My 1.1 saxo seems to drag in first and second gear at low revs. after finally reaching like 20 mph in 2nd its starts to fly straight up to like 35-40 pretty fast, wondering why it drags when i first change from first to second..

Because you peak torque isnt in the lower end of the rev range. Your not pushin out much power at 2000 revs, but at about 3500 which is about where your peak torque is you get the majority of your power.

So basically, for a quick start change gears after youve reached peak torque, at about 4-5000, to use the most power your engine can give. It will obviously sounds like your ranting it though lol

ah ok, only prblem with that is, my model has no rev counter :P just a stupid useless clock!
so just keep in lower gears for a bit longer so i doesnt drag?? thanks mate Much appretiated.

also it could be if you have an open induction kit, the hot air makes it a bit slow to pick up until about 15 mph. it was the same in my nissan almera
