View Full Version : People with raceland 4-2-1 manifold
Where did you get the bit that goes in between the cat flange and manifold flange to seal them together, as stand one is slightly to thick to fit into the manifold, but goes round the end of the sports cat fine. need an answer asap please cheers
bump, changed title, so even people with just the manifold let me know please as need to find out asap ideally within the hour :)

do you mean the wire mesh ring? if so i had the same problem mate. i just got a hammer and flattened the edges a bit and it was fine.:y:
cheers mate, and yes ment the wire ring :) thanks
yeah garage said they dont want to file it down / hammer the edges slightly so im hoping the one from janspeed will fit
as they said it would start to frey if they did either of those :(
Right called janspeed direct, they said it uses the standard wire gasket between manifold and cat, so at a guess its the cheap build quality of the raceland mani then. So anyone that fitted theres themselves please let me know how you managed to get the end of your wire gasket to fit into the manifold flange :)

i had to go to a place called part-co and find the nearest size to my standard one but needed it slightly bigger, had to get one that was for another kind of car and just squish it into shape i needed
mechanics are refusing to squash it into shame thought, they say it will just frey or break up :(, thats only think holding my car back from being done really

as above, have a raceland and mine fitted spot on.
was there any gap when fitted between cat flange and manifold flange??? so any visibility of the wire gasket at all?? not sure why mine is slightly too big unless you guys just put it between cat and manfiold and tightened the bolts up so eventually reshaped the wire gasket maybe due to the pressure of bolts pressing manifold and cat together??

you are saying the wire mesh thing is too small yes ?
Right been to the garage and they explained it to me better this time, basically the bore of the cat is 50mm rather than the standard 46mm on most systems, so as the bore is bigger there having to use a bigger gasket to fit over the end of the sports cat, due to this the gasket is too big to fit into the manifold flange. Anyone got any ideas of how i can get around this, as currently its forced together, and theres no flexiness in the between cat and manifold so could cause it to split the manifold eventually. cheers
