Now then folks,
I have a 2000 vts thats just started misfiring, I have replaced the coilpack to know avail and after checking the compression all is ok as far as the head is concerned. I'm thinking it could be a dead injector and want to know if anyone is selling them and/or how much they are to buy? Do you have to buy the full rail with injectors or can the be bought individually?

any help welcome?

have tried, replacing the plugs but no 1 cylinder just isn't firing... read a few threads where when all else has failed it turned out to be injectors?

What were the results from the compression test? This happened to me and the results weren’t that bad… turned out to be bent/burnt valves (still don’t know as I haven’t taken the head off) – I just replaced the engine… I’ve still got the old engine though with the injector rail etc… Just pm me with an offer (had a diagnostic just before I took it out and no electrical faults)

Also does it backfire? If so… is this out the exhaust or through the throttle body?

right mate, all cylinders were about 12 bar so it seems pretty sweet in the respect. Its just missing on 1 cylinder, sounds like a tractor and no backfire put its a pain to drive. Should I try some injector cleaner or maybe just strip down to the injectors and run it to see if they are all working?

Arrgghhh I love my saxo but some of the problems can be a right arse and I daren't go near main dealer.... had a diagnostic too which didn't show anything.

I’m probs not the best one to ask… but it does sounds like one of the injectors is blocked or broken. Don’t know how you would test it though… I can’t remember what it looks like from the top of my head but I’m sure there are 4 wires going into 4 injectors? – you could try pulling the one out on the cylinder that isn’t firing – see if that makes a difference?

If you lived closer id lend you my inlet manifold to put on

ta for the help lads, just put some injector cleaner in but I don't think it'll work gonna strip back to the injectors tomorrow.

This problem is so annoying there are so many threads and yet everybody seems to have a different problem, funny though coilpack always comes up yet i've never seen anyone say it was that. :n:

you said your replaced the coil pack ;)

i would try the injector cleaner and some optimax.

i had to replace an injector once after it was fooked from shitty asda fuel lol

it took it to the local garage, he stuck it on a diagnostic machine and it told him straight away that number 4 injector was fooked, he said injector cleaner and optimax for a while. tried it and it didnt improve, i got a second hand injector from a scrappy and it was fine ;)
that was with a mk6 escort, but the diagnostic machine would work on most cars ;)
think it only cost me £20

First thing I did was a diagnostic though and then came back all clear, well it was strange actually cos it said to start with something about a knock sensor and also something to do with richness then I started it up to show the guy the misfiring and when we checked again it was all clear. He said that the faults were probably linked to the misfire but they didn't actually have a code that matched in the book.

get it on a fault code reader
