Hi all... Did the engine and box in my car, and the starter was grinding.
I swapped it for a better starter (The teeth on the one on the engine were quite worn), so i replaced it with my old one that looked much better.
A week or so on, it'll grind about 4 times, and then start the car.
It doesn't do it all the time though!
Any ideas what could be causing this?

any particular type of grease?
Which bit should i grease?
take it off and go to a car parts accesory store.
they will be able to check it for you (normally free).
the idea of the starter is that it pops the rod out then cranks over the flywheel, if this is sticking it will make a funny grinding noise as it isnt popping out fully ;)
dont mess about with it yourself on a battery as it pops out at a canny force and will make you jump lol ;)
hope that helps mate
