Get a performance 4-2-1 or 4-1 manifold, performance exhaust system, good quaility induction kit, get some performance cams, and you could save up a few more pennys and even turbo it! lower it by around 35mm and you be buzzing mate!

manifold, exhaust, enclosed filter, cams & remap.

as said, 4-1 manifold if i was you, search around there is thread with loads info about them, people get 4-2-1's for vts lower down power but if raggin the car when do you ever need lower down power?
4-1 manifold, enclosed filter, full exhaust system, piper imo cams and remap! wouldn't turbo it, should be seeing 150bhp easy i think :y:
With the rest of the money, uprate the brakes, speak to williamsvts he can sort you out, lower 35mm for best handling personally i would go 40mm, lets face it if going to go fast need to stop dont we and need good handling!

that will be well within the 2k budget but then need to declare to insurance :y:

rough price

£280 manifold (if get raceland 4-2-1 tehn £130)
£300 exhaust (depends on what you get rallynuts do magnex for £270 delivered)
£180 (think they are) uprated front brakes from williamsvts
£200 Suspension kit (depending on what get)
£80 to lower on the kit
£160 bmc enclosed, if your wanting to do that (would imo get decent panel filter £40 and get better supply of cold air to it)

total of £1200

cams not sure about price tbh would thought £600 for cams fitting and mapping, sure someone will know

If not in a rush i would reccommend trying to source stuff second hand :y:

Dont forget good tyres mate. You will see a big diff round corners

Ported & gas flowed head with cams & a remap. £1000 - 1200
Manifold & exhaust - £500 - 600
Ported throttle body - £50
BMC CDA / Viper - £150 - 200

Thats for power gains....

But you'll need it dropping 40mm & some good stopping power too.... so squeeze some lowering springs & GTI-6 brakes in there.

dont get the viper it holds the heat to much. go for enclosed jobbie

i'd also say that spending more on suspension would be a very good idea. For high quality dampers and springs budget for more like £400. Will mean you can keep that power down on the rough stuff

Dont waste £160 on a BMC induction kit. Spend £80 on a raceland enclosed induction kit. Heard nothing but good reviews on this and its half the price!

Steve

i personally wouldnt bother spending money on induction kit just panel filter and decent cold air feed.........
But if have the money would get BMC! or for cheaper option as said above

Some good advise above!!There is somethink else you can do which is free and thats strip everthing out of it.

Power to weight racio plays a huge part in how quick your car is going to be.

Got a question guys, is a Ported & Gas Flowed Head the same a a port
and polish done on the head? Or are the both totally different things?

If they are different then what is a ported and gas flowed head?

but what exact;y do you wanna know about them? lol

rushy gasflowed is used to test the head for better airflow, so if its ported polished, three angled seats, bigger valves whatever this tell you the gains youve made

it always makes me laugh when people say use the viper air filter its class lol

It so isnt

They did a review on it a while back in the old pgti mag

They put it on 205 gti and it lost 1 bhp over standard on, so it sures how good that is

never been a fan of the Viper,
especially when it claims to give the Saxo VTS +10bhp :/
bit shifty.

ive heard of supercharged and turbochrged engines before, i think volkwagan where panning one for the golf but it never made it past prototype,

Scott
11th May 2007, 15:15
it made it well past prototype you can go to your local dealer and buy a golf gt right now if you want. 1.4 turbo and super charged.

oh right it did make it past proto, i didnt really see what happened in the end to be honest, thats great that they made it, but before that there was a performance rally car of some sort that did this i think, lancia maybe?

Was a crazy idea that resulted from a drunken night out and too many people starting to brag, got me thinking tho. Too much lol but if its a first then i might look into it further, only an idea for the moment. Cheers for all the advice, still a ledgend bullit lol
