today i am taking out the cat on my vtr and removing the centre box. me and my mechanic mate are gonna fabricate a de-cat and make it straight through. what i wanna know is what is the difference between this and buying a brand new system. surely they are the same as all the new system comprises off is a straight through pipe and new back box? does anybody have any ideas? :y:

the bore size of the pipe, and the angles on the bends all make a big difference to the performance of the car!

whats the standard size of the pipe? (2") would three be better or will i lose all my backpressure:y:
the position of the first siencer in an exhaust system is important, its why some de cats are combustion chambers.
mandrel bends are used on a normal exhaust, i wouldnt bodge it with a mate personally.
a 2.25 bore is what a pugsport is for the 1300 and 1600NA 106 rallye and is rated to 160bhp as an example of bores

i aint bodging it. he works for an exhaust centre in my town and we worked out all the in's and out's of it. i just wondered what the difference was between an aftermarket and a normal exhaust.
