my ecu for vts engine conversion iv just realised may be locked or unlocked as its a remanufacturd one.

called the people who did it as there is a sticker on it and they said its up to the person when they receive it if they chose to get their old imobilser code put on that ecu or leave it without one

. . . . so, if i try this on a 106 gti (doesn't have keypad imobilsor but i think its got an imobiliser through the alarm?!), and it starts the car then it should start my engine right??

i'm getting so confused working it out aah somebody help!

best thing to do is go to your local citreon garage, tow your car there and tell them to code your key to the ecu and it works, thats how i ended up doin mine.

just wondering if it works on my mates 106 gti then it should start my engine? his has no keypad imobiliser tho just the button thing for alarm you have to press it after so long to start the car if your parked up.

just dont want to send ecu away and pay only to find out its unlocked, or get engine in car and not be able to start it cause its locked then i would have no car for a while!

you will need to disconnect your immobilser 1st. otherwise it wont start as the ecu wont code up with the immob.

immobiliser has nothing to do with his keyfob. its a completely seperate unit.

if you dont remove immob 1st it will lock the ecu aswell.

the immobioliser is under the glove box, behind the fuses. you will need to disconnect it before you plug the ecu in. no way you can tell if its unlocked until you try it.

so i need to do this once my engine is in? altho i didnt think i have imobiliser now.

i was under impression before an unlocked ecu would work on any engine for that model the ecu is for? eg vts

yes, but the immob NEEDS to be removed or the ecu will lock up.
immob can never be put back or or ecu will lock up.

ahh so basicly, if this remanufactured ecu was fitted to the previous car and the owner never disconected the imobiliser then the ecu will have locked and now will need unlocking for me to use it!?

yes. did you buy it 2nd hand?
but that would mean that the ecu was from that car in teh 1st place, which i doubt it will be being a remanufactured ecu.

the ecu came with the engine etc i bought, so it was running this engine in previous car . . . . . ?

try it on a mates car. you will need to unplug immob aswell.

alarm has nothing to do with it either.
