Get the car to a garage you trust and ask them to check out the running.

Just an Big airfilter shouldnt cause any problems as the car only takes the air it needs unless there is an airleak and that way it cant control how much air goes in.

Check that all the pipes you can see are contect and are not split.

The VTR is a great little car to cut your modding teeth on as they are pretty simple to work on and there is so much out there for them.

The VTR is an Single cam 8v engine compaired to the VTS which is a Twin cam 16v.

Depending on what year and colour rocker cover you have Silver or Black then your VTR will be pushing between 90bhp to 98bhp where as the VTS produces 120bhp.

OK cheers.. its a 1999 model.. white and i think its been in a front accident cos its got a new bumper. The engine looks a little too clean! I managed to seal the air filter off to ristrict the amount of air that goes in, hopefully ill just get a standard one soon then start from scratch.
So that shouldnt have anything to do with the jumping.. also when i come to slowing down it feels like the abs is cutting in cos it jumps then too. some thing isnt right...
ill post some pictures when im home ( at work )

vtrs dont have abs

Bad Ryan - It was an option FOOL :homme: :panic: :mobile: :p

Big cunty airfilter can play havock with fueling. For a start sack that off and go standard, it should hopefully solve it.

CloVis

Not to sure, it does rev more when driving on a straight road and less when going up hill.. which is surly the wrong way rand right?

Ok try sticking in a bottle of STP Fuel cleaner or similar the next few times you fill up and give the car a good rev to try and clear the system.

Also whip the plugs out and see what kinda condition they are in, if your not sure what your looking at ask a garage what colour your plugs should be.

If they are Very Black there is a problem.

Try not to let the fuel light come on as you run the risk of sucking up any muck in the bottom of your tank.

Might be worth saving alittle money and having a full service:

Oil
Oil filter
Spark plugs
HT Leads
Possibly a change in air filter as I doubt the item on the car is doing the car any favours
Fuel Filter

and get the garage or who ever is doing the job to check all the pipes are connected correctly just incase you have an airleak.

Alot to take in but hope some of that is of use :y:

Get under the car and give the CAT a slight shake or knock. If it rattles you CAT is dead and this could be the cause as it may be blocking the exhaust. If your skint just get a de-cat for now or try and source a cat from the scrappy.

Hope this maybe of somehelp.

Best to see what the garage comes back with.

If you are taking the car to a garage make sure to have a man with you, sounds bad, but a garage may not give you the correct report if you go in alone.

It shouldnt be that way but its best to have man with you, dad, boyfriend, friend etc and let them do the talking.

My missis used to have loads of trouble with main dealer with her Micra but it was always funny to see them give her a different answer when I stood there a asked the same question in a slightly firmer voice so the old biddies buy a new Micra could hear ;)
