Raceland buddy, very cheap yet good gains and good build and welds etc are good.. Dont think the others are worth the extra money tbh! :)

You want the 4-1 as its a vtr you want more power top end!

Id say gmc...

gmc as its a decent fit unlike the others and the SS will be a good quality fanimold... think u need some sort of sleeve for a sensor too..

janspeed ones are made of mild steel and dont seem to be a great fit either. becasue its mild steel it can rust and if your centre pipe is full stainless steel then this car wear away the manifold as they are different types of steel.

as for re-locating the oil filter, i have trid and gave up and i only know one person on here that has had a go and actually done it, banger007 i think.

i would go GMC.

this is the only Supersprint i could find and it sounds as if its for a mk1

Details : Fits to the OEM catalytic convertor

looks like you've already pretty much made your mind up!

I bought a Raceland, and i couldn't be happier with it, frees up the revs no end! and defiately more responsive! Raceland ftw!

i thought you could just replace it with a mk1 oil filter as their smaller? could be wrong though! infact porbably are lol :p

Out of the 4 stated i would go for the gmc 4-1.

Race land because its a cheap version of the Supersprint, only £119 from KamRacing

GMC because its a well designed 4-1 by BTB exhausts, who are FG

Supersprint is too expencive

Jansport - I had a Jansport system on my 306 Rallye. It was wank

i wish it was that simple,
you have to take the oil filter off and the filter housing off
then use a mk1 insert and then screw a mk1 filter on to that
then relocate the oil pressure switch with a new sensor on the end of it
then (the hardest part) you have to block up the oil return valve on the engine block. sounds easy but its not.
i spend ages trying to find something and/or someone that i could block the hole up with. i was going to weld it but didnt want to fook it up. then i was going to tap a thread into the block but didnt want to risk cracking the block. sealant wouldnt of held it in place for long and anything else i found that fit meant i couldnt fit the oil filter on properly and "vice versa"

is it only the raceland that you have to relocate the oil filter?

Mark51
22nd May 2007, 09:13
^^ if you have a mk2 engine you have to rerlocate the oil filter with any manifold that is made for the mk1 enigne

thats why if I ever get a new manifold ill be getting the GMC 4-1 one, but its over 200quid

janspeed with sports cat imo
richie just got one sounds awesome, plus wont have the faf on with worrying at mot time, it was built to order but have to say bit shitty build quality and the down pipe is about 0.5cm to high and is currently hitting off the bottom of the car, but i had that problem with my gmc!
But my gmc is really good build quality imo!
not much price difference between the two either......

no, as long as your engine is an mk1 (90bhp) then you will be ok

its not hard to fit a manifold mate

take your old one off (all nuts are 10mm)
take the lambda sensor out
put the new one in with a new gasket
put the lambda sensor back in
enjoy the extra bhp and louder exhaust

Steve

there can be complications in fitting manifolds, can be a bitch and fuck around getting the centre silencer to line up, with ones i have done its fiddly fitting some bolts onto the studs, but always get there in the end :y:

Also teh centre silencer has hit off the car, managed to sort mine but richie having to get the down pipe bent on his because of build quality on the manifold down pipe!

deffo get a new gasket :y:
also mayswel get new studs and nuts,
note you put the studs in the engine first then manifold on and bolts with washers on!

There is a sticky on how to fit one :y:
