i am searching the site...
in the photo gallery the 90% of the cars have alloy bigger than 15'-16'...i would like to ask if there is any interest for speed in GB...what about street racing?
here in Greece we (Str.racers) are searching first of all the weight of the alloy and then all the others features...i am not trying to say something bad for you but it seems a little freak for me...you know smileys/smiley8.gif !!!
anyway...how many kg/hp do your car have...i am just trying to understand your culture!

lol i know what you mean most saxo owners in britain are not concerned with making the car go faster but to make the car look better. But dont think there are no big power cars here, in fact there nearly as much people searching for power as there are stylers but they tend to keep a bit more quiet.
We have some very big power cars here, i mean simos at his last power run was 181 BHP at the wheels and is expected to make more at its next remap session. The M-Developments saxo made 163.3mph on the standard limiter with a vtr box. GMC made a taiwanise (spelling) race car, that was the 1.4 8v which ran throttle bodies and a supercharger and it made around 250BHP at the wheels!
thats a very very vey small selection of the power guys.
We dont really like street racing here in britain, well the power guys dont we tend to prefer the safeness of the track or quarter mile strip

this means that there isn't any road that you can run for 400 - 700m with other cars...Honda etc... because here we have a plae like that and seemw like burning hell!! smileys/smiley2.gif
i have a friend with a turbo pug 1.6 more than 450hp...
and the car , except of the alloys which are 15; kosei k1, is still like a simple factory car...

im afraid i cant beleive that figure until i see some specs of the engine etc... unless they use a different method of charting power than we do.
Even if that 450 is quoted as the fly figure the wheels figure would still be nearly 350 bhp which would take a serious serious serous amount of work

i will not give you a lot of details because it isnt my car...

27th August 2004, 14:22
it has to be a twin engined car then to be running a figure such high
how the hell do you get 450 brake from a pug 106 ??
you sure you got it right ?
vtsturbo
27th August 2004, 15:17
sarge you`ll definately have to get the spec off your mate and post it. i did see pics and read about a white 106 somewhere on the net before that was running approx. 276@fly, add 150 n2o to that then your pretty close to the 450 mark so not nessasserily in need of two engines. all said though it`s obvious that poeple will be dubious as those sort of power figures have not been achieved yet in uk. also i doubt even the mighty tu block could take that amount of bhp with 150 n2o aswell as circa 300 is enough never mind ading 150 n2o!
Scott
27th August 2004, 16:27
you need to get specs on this SARGE if it does indeed run 450bhp without nos it will be an awesome bit of machinery but to be honest i just dont beleive it

350hp ... and 5th gear burning out seems a bit suspicuis.
i wouldnt buy alloys more than 15' , but if my car was turbo then i would surely put 17', but at this point it will slow down my car a lot.

UK law is too strict to allow MOST people to bother street racing!
small wheels for acceleration though I agree... but if you have a lot of power, larger wheels often create a cheap, quick fix for better traction and a higher top speed too smileys/smiley17.gif

but the guy do not want to tell his specs cause is afraid the Greeks... you know that if you have a fast car you do not tell your secrets in order to protect the patentes and your right choices... here in Greece the world is too small and everybody search in the Internet to learn things... if you want to ask him you can visit the webpage that we are writing www.dragster.gr but i think that you will not understand because is written in Greek only i think...
sorry...be sure that i do not liy to you... there is another Rallye that is 320-350bhp and have the title of the kING in the underground places...that we run...he is the King for now...because when this pug will be ready will kick him hard!

10,000 euro's for 450 bhp? isn't that like £7,000? Maybe with 350bhp NOS injection i could believe it. If it really does have 450bhp the engine has to be in the back and surely a transplanted engine?

SARGE - have you guys with the big power saxos/106s never thought of doing a road trip to england to prove the might of your beasts? could be a laugh plus a chance to show us brits the real deal.
although people are sceptical i don`t think you should be getting shirty/cocky/arogant and confrontational as you have no way of backing up your claims so why should poeple believe you. although i do half believe some of what you are claiming is true it is a little but ott as we have never seen those kind of power outputs over here. i am not having a gosmileys/happy.gif

about the trip now...i think that if you organise such an event and give us informations you could see a lot of beasts...
and something in all the tuning magazinew that we have in Greece , we can read a lot of topics that have to do with cars in England... all of them are saying the same story that we have faster saxorallye in Europe...i do not know if its true...may be yew may be not

by this he means a quarter mile strip/drag strip smileys/smiley2.gif
SARGE if you and your mates would be serious about coming to england for some drag action there are very regular events at three different locations. although i think a date in the new year would be a better time to pencil into the diaries as british weather doesn`t exactly favour racing at this time of year smileys/smiley13.gif there would be plenty of tuned saxos/106s eager to go head-to-head.
i remember a while back aswell that my local car club were planning on attending a "king of europe" drag strip near paris in france for a once a year meat up of europes` finest. have you ever heard of such an event?

Every spectator who came to Hal-Far Raceway for this Drag meet, had the ability to see a couple of very good Greek Drag Racers, competing with our local ones. Mr. Fillippos Papafilippou and Mr. Eythimios Nefrem, decided to come to Malta try out and race on our track for the first time and for fact it wont be the last, since they were very happy with everything.
These two drivers left Malta with a good impression with us Maltese, since they ended up winning and taking Trophies with them to Greece for 1st and 2nd Places in CA6 and Open 4 Classes respectively. One has to mention the Best Elapsed Times of these two Racers, which they achieved here in Malta, during this event. Mr. Fillippos Papafilippou who drove a Slick Pontiac Firebird Door Slammer 509ci, did an Incredible Elapsed Time of 7.4 seconds, with a Terminal Speed of over 180 Mph. He himself, wasn't expecting this kind of Elapsed Time he did over here, since his Best Ever Elapsed Time for this car was an 8.4 seconds. This proves that here in Malta, we got one of the best Tracks in Europe. His Pontiac was performing perfectly to the utmost. One has to mention that he bettered his Launching only, by almost .5 of a second, when he registered a 1.0 second over here to the 1.6 seconds over in Greece. This kind of the Sixty foot Fillippos registered is done by Pro-Stocker cars. He never expected to improve this much over here but Oh Boy, did he ever. He left everyone amazed over here with all his runs. He started with a 7.8 seconds run and was improving by every run he made during this Event. Today, One can say, that this Pontiac Firebird is the fastest Door Slammer car in Malta and now he can say and he's proud to say too, that he holds our National Records for the CA6 and Open4 Classes respectively. One can say all the same things about the other Greek competitor too, Eythimios Nefrem, who was driving a Ford Sierra 454ci. He ended up a runner up to Fillippos Papafilippou and achieved a Personal Best Elapsed Time of 8.6 seconds, which is a second better, than his Personal Best ever time achieved in Greece.

Smithy
3rd September 2004, 21:08
Ok. But where does it mention the Saxo? All i can see in that was a Pontiac Firebird.
We have some serious car tuners in this country as well, with tuners modifying all makes and models of car. Most powerfull are usually the jap cars - supras, skylines, evos etc. Several of these are 800-1000bhp and do the quater mile sprint in under 10secs. Terminal speeds are usually 170mph plus with several topping the 200mph barrier.
