Just anything that performs better then the inch thick crappy thing under the bonnet
the standard rad performs fine.
if your car is overheating its not the radiator that is the problem

LOOK nice... and doing a job are two different things!!...
if your that analy retentive get an aluminium rad. or ring up 106parts and get a nissens rad... but get the anal lube first.

well a rad is about £80+ irc... prob more..
dont see a point when your standard rad doesnt have holes and cools the engine fine.

I have a Nissens Alu rad on my VTS and I can cagegorically say it does keep the engine temp slightly lower than the standard effort. It's worth pointing out that a standard radiator will perish over the course of just a few years, whereas the aluminium ones don't.
So as analy retentive I am, I bought one! Cost about the same as a standard one from Citroen if you shop around.
Itsafastworld - I know you know your stuff, but in this instance an ali rad will look nice and do the job so there's no need to be like that with anyone

i have just fitted a nissens vts rad. It amazing, even proper hard driving and the it doesnt get hot enough for the fan to kick in. Also in traffic on hot days it sits at bang on half way.

If the standard rad has not persished then imo its not worth changing it for the sake of it, its just extra expense that is unseccesary. Once the standard rad has gone then its an upgrade to do, hence why i suggested to get one.
and youve just said my point exacly you seem to be more worried about what it looks like.
learn to take a bit of a joke as its intended, or go outside and put another layer of wax on to calm down :P
I've got a vts rad to go in my vtr, who knows what will happen but the vtr one needs replacing and this one came up dead cheap. In my mind it must work more efficiently as its bigger?

a vts rad should work more efficiently, however alot of people forget that sometimes overcooling an engine can be just as bad as an overheating engine. it should be fine though tbh it may take a tad longer to come up to temperature though, so stay off that throttle pedal a wee bit longer ;)
i know FMP ran a vtr rad with his 16v engine on tbs! lol
My throttle peddle never gets used. I don't drive a quick car, i drive a vtr lol :)
Thanks though, will keep that in mind.

you shouldnt rev an engine hard until the temperature is above half way. so make sure the temp guage has been there for a while, as coolant temp heats up before the oil does and most vtrs dont have an oil temp guage,.

is your cooling fan not working? as ive said if your car is overheating with a standard rad there is usually something more serious than needing a new rad.
if youve checked it all nisses can be putchased from 106parts.

Unless the rad is 10 years old and quickly perishing as mine did!

indeed i let mine get 2 halfway b4 i nail it like but u should never hammer and engine fom cold likl

as i had said in my post! it may be more serious, you need to check everything else is working before changing the rad, as theres no point buying a new rad when the cooling fan doesnt work ;)
