quick one,wot are the most agressive cam profile i can get for my gti without having new pistons(pocketed).i know it could depend on how many times the heads been skimmed but if it was a new head for example??
any help would be apprcaited:y: :y:

just the normal reall 708s and the likes. you could prob get a custom cam done which you may be able to get a bit wilder but it wont be much difference.
head wont matter if your pistons are getting hit there getting hit
ring matt at qep and ask him he can supply custom grinds from catcams that will do what you want.

cheers guys for the info,am i right into thinking custom grinds wont cost much more than a normal cam set price??

why though?? your cams need to match your inlet system. geting the most hardcore cams that will fit in your engine doesnt mean the most power.

the problem does not just lay with your pistons. A wild cam will struggle to work well using a standard induction system. For somethind wild you need throttle bodies. This will limit you before your valves are likely to hit the pistons
you dont need the most agressive cam in the world mate some will be the same even it it does open the valve for longer. The most efficient airflow through any valve occurs when it has been lifted 1/4 of its diameter. Further opening of the valve will result in minimal in air flow
basicaly its like a vacuum when the gaps smaller the air will flow faster through the gap wont it and then if you make that gap larger it wont flow as fast and less air is pushed in. However if you get larger valves, better diameter then this gap will still stay the same but with a larger surface area open.
its not all about cam profiles sometimes, gota think about the air that needs to flow
