yes thats the one, it will fit the mk2 VTR, but it doesn't sit flush to the slam panel, and ou will have to re-locate the power steering fluid!

With air filters it generally works like this

Open = Noise
Enclosed = Peformance

Open kits are ok to a point as long as they have a supply of cold air via a Cold air Feed. If your budget doesnt allow for an slightly more expensive enclosed filter a open cone will make the engine slightly more free reving and like mentioned with decent feed of cold air will slight improve throotle response But there are much cheaper open induction kits out there and for the money your looking at you could afford a enclosed RaceLand item from www.kam-racing.com

no theyre not as they still get heat soak, its not about just getting cool air to the filter its about reducing the heat soak that occurs, adding a cold air feed does not do this.

Yes I do agree with that but . . . But, open filters have been around for almost as long as EFi and only in the last few years have enclosed kits started to become more readyly available. We Saxo owners are very lucky as we can get Cheap RaceLand items other car owners are not so luck where open filters are all that are available to them.

So Yes they are not the best on the market but they a proven product that will add ponies if only a few and only if installed correctly with a cold air feed.

Also budget does come in to the matter.

on some engines this is not a problem due to the fact that the throtlle body and inlet is situated at the front of the engine, usually in the area by the battery, so heat soak is not so much of a problem, the problem is more on TU engines due to where the TB is situated, adding a KnN non enclosed on your TB may actually loose power due to the increased surface area of the cone getting a higher ammount of heat soak! the OE system would probably keep the engine running better in most cases a KnN or similar just makes a BWAAAP! and has no effect/worse effect on the engine.

Good point well made I guess, but like I have mentioned before in prevous threads there is nothing wrong with relocating the cone behind the passanger side headlight as cold air will be entering around the headlight. Not ideal but a modilfied induction kit could be made for less than a enclosed filter or even a K&N 57i kit.

Yes enclosed are best, we all know that but I really dont think open filter are as bad as somepeople make out as they can be moved to 'cooler' parts of the engine bay :y:
