i've heard of the gti-6 lump in a 106 but rumour had it turning circle was ridiculus due to the size of the engine. so not worth it at all

wasnt the engine it was the fact they used the gti-6 box which was to big.

the problem has been solved now by the tunning company involved

Swatspeed saxo.

its a bit different to a 2.0L front engined saxo, being rear wheel drive and the suspension set up used it would still maintain a level of handling.

a 2.0L fwd, front engined saxo, well id hope it comes with paddles

slightly off subject, but i have known a Pulsar GTi-R engine to be fitted snug into the back seats of a 1.0 Nissan Micra! she even kept the 1.0 badges on the back, now thats a proper sleeper, 220bhp+ Micra an its was fast as fook, take my word for it! iirc the 0-60 time was, in just less than 5secs.

there are a lot of citroens and pug 106's being converted to using the xu 2 litre engines. As long as the 6 speed gearbox is not used then its a perfectly reasonable conversion especially if you use an alloy block engine. Theres a few on rallye register. One whos hoping for 220bhp and bic with his 106 maxi is getting a 270bhp 206 engine fitted. The extra weight can be compensated for by matching the suspension properly

208 was a decent figure I thought. Personally I'd be enjoy it. Looking at the videos there was a lot of scope to go faster around the track..

i would imagine Bic wants his car to be the best 106 in the country and if people are building cars which can easily run more power then he might have bhp envy or something lol. Seriously I think much of the fun of such a nuts car is in the building and anticipation which he does not have as its now built. 270bhp will be rather fun but so would driving his current race engine. He can already chase evo's so just think what a few driving lessons would achieve.

I have heard that a 2.0l xantia lump will go in a vtr, is this a good conversion or not? Because i want to do the conversion soon and need to know what the best engine to drop in there is.. :)

A good sign is Bic is putting a 2 litre touring car engine in his 106. He won't do anything that will slow his car down...
Problem is he has more money that most so he can afford a top notch conversion.

Basically if I didnt like the 205 (and the fact these engines just drop in the older car) so much i would have tried fitting a 2.0 to a saxo a long time ago..

kam, seeing as your in the motor racing/modding scene.....you would know how much it would cost for a conversion.....or rough ammont anyway?

how much for a 2.0 xsara vts engine? i know there was a thread before, but cos we chatting about big engine saxo's/106's etc, thought it would be appropriate in here

Fitting of the new engine is already in progress. Longman's done loads of work on this one too.

The old engine was for sale on PistonHeads iirc a few weeks back for somewhere in the region of 4k
