Gti - 6 is 167 bhp iirc top speed 140mph and 0-60 is 7.4 seconds

but the rallye version has a 0-60 of 6.9 seconds which is equal to that of a VTS

Mine was quicker upto 110 then His had the power to slowly over take..

although mine has a few mods...

unles the gti-6 lump was in ur car i dont think it would be faster than it. but it all depend on driver aswel plays a big part. 306 rallye's can be made alot faster than a gti-6

6.9secs for a VTS? You must be joking.

"1.6 (1587 cc) VTS - DOHC (Double overhead camshaft) 16 valve - 120 bhp - 0-60 in 7.2 seconds - top speed = 127 mph"

Standard VTs.. therefore his prediction isn't tht much off..

To be fair, as much as I think someone is living in cloud cukoo land, the VTS and GTI6 are pretty eqaully matched up to 60.

Try out accelerating one from 30 though and the GTI6 will embarrass the vts!

Can we hire this test track then?;)

There are quite a few vids of em racin on youtube. Obviously the pug is the faster standard car but there aint too much difference up to 60mph....after that the pug is away!!

pug has a greater weight, which is why its not so hot off the line, the rallye helps with this due to being lighter, gearing on gti-6s rock.

Very similar performance, had a run in with one on a private motorway, early hours of the morning. Both cars standard at the time as well. Kept it under 70mph of course:panic: ;)

Yeah to 60 there isnt much in it, but the gti-6 should pull away after that.

might has well have my 2p lol

I have owned both i modified vts and now a xsara vts( basically the same as gti6) and i would say the saxo would probs get it on a strip i dont notice much difference until the xsara gets into 3rd and thats were i could tell the difference between them trhe xsara pulls much stronger and harder then the vts

So in a 1/4 mile bash the saxo has it in my eyes with the gti-6 very very close

Having owned both I would totally agree.

My best in a standard 306 Rallye (well, it had an exhaust but that made piss all difference!) was 15.5 seconds. Most GTI-6s that day did 16.0 or 15.9. VTS should be about 15.5 standard.

CampDavid

It sounds good because of the metal inlet. Standard v standard the VTS and GTI-6 are pretty much on par

there we are then, if they're quite similar standard then surley I would have a bit of an edge upto a ton! his is near enough standard.

where as I have some nice breathing mods with a raised rev limit and a b+m quickshift box

Il admit as soon as i hit about 110 he was able to pull by my side and pull forwards, but there was very very little in it

infact id rather a car that hit 100 first

Karl
4th June 2007, 10:10
Camp have you ever 1/4 mile?
what times do you get pal?

Mystic
4th June 2007, 10:19
If you have a raised rev limit & only breathing mods then your gonna slow yourself down even more. Your engine will run out of puff before a std limiter, let alone a raised one!

CampDavid
4th June 2007, 10:21
14.6 IIRC, that was with no interior and an ashley exhaust system. It's slower now on the standard manifold and exhaust, but much nicer day to day

Karl
4th June 2007, 10:24
nice though 14.6 is a really good time :)

so it would be quicker if I changed before 7k?

CampDavid
4th June 2007, 10:44
Not driven a non-camm'd VTS properly, but likely to benifit you to change at about 7k

Ryan
4th June 2007, 11:08
so it would be quicker if I changed before 7k?

if on standard cams which irc you are then you deffo need to change earlier than 7800! due to the fact theyre out of the powerband!

MiniGibbo
4th June 2007, 12:55
raising the limiter without new cams ;)

Still waiting for details on private track lol

Intresting reading, standing start the lighter Saxo would be quicker off the line but slowly I beleive the greater power of the 306 would pull it back, over a standard 3/4 mile its hard to say as there are to many variables, driver, tyres, conditions etc but over a longer run I feel the 306 would have the Saxo.

On a track things might change again but thats a different thread all together and probally shouldnt be started ;)

Karl
4th June 2007, 13:44
- longer run the GTi6 eats the Saxo hands down.

MiniGibbo
4th June 2007, 13:54
id of quessed on a very tight track the saxo would win hands down but with a long run such as the final run to the pits on thruxton the gti would pass easily.

my m8s got da gti 6 n i got da vts n he kills me no chance
