you do not need heat proof paint for the rocker cover, normal primer, paint and laquer is fine. you can also paint it in the car if you are carefull and mask things off and use a dust sheet for the rest

Decent paint and some rust prevention stuff i would use
So obviously high heat resistant for heat shields and exhasts etc
and normal paint for rocker covers and most other stuff?

i used normal paint on the heat shield and that is fine too however on long journeys the laquer becomes tacky but rehardens when it is left to cool, you could just not laquer it and it will be fine
remember only paint the top visable side

I originally done mine with Very High Temp spray paint but it flaked and I had to sand down the covers and start again, on most of my cars in the past I have simply used Halfords High Temp brush on paint which Ive found to be really good.
You dont get the same smooth finsih but for what I find it much easier to use and have painted things from Rocker covers to Brake Callipers with it and its fine.
Here's my S covers painted, bloke I took my car to once said 'Its always nice to open a bonnet and see a nice clean bright engine, most of the time its just a dirt Black oily lump, brightened my day up mate' Honest :y:

Notice the slightly unsmooth finish where the light has caught it, but people that have seen it say its ok and it just makes the engine bay more easier on the eye :y:
