Alright guys, ive got an ashley exhaust on my vtr at the moment, its currently center silenced, rear silenced and has the cat in.

If i was to remove the cat and get a straight through center section how loud would the system be?
I know if i put my de-cat back in it will improve performance slightly but if i was to get a straight through center pipe would that improve performance at all?

I tried the search button but i am hoping for some ashley specific replies

removing the center box will cause resonation so it will be louder but at times can be very annoying on a long drive.

as for de cats a straight through pipe isnt the answer all the time to optimum performance, in some cases de catting can cause a loss of torque, which is why the old 106 xsi (expansion chamber de cats) were so effective, just a shame they stopped production

im still going to have the rear silencer on which hopefully will calm the noise, would you suggest i leave the center silencer in?

yes peronally after having a few systems on my car, the straight through pipe was fucking annoying on long trips, it resonated far worse, and imo the system with 3 silencers ran better and gave me better fuel economy aswell.

cheers chap, its got the 3inch exit, think i will just put the de-cat back in....that will increase noise anyways. get the popping back in the exhaust :)

What are you actually looking for exhaust wise?

I know quite a few good places to get exhaust but depending on what you want from a exhaust depends where I recommend.

ashley direct will try find a number for you

craigy_87
15th June 2007, 13:39
there's a number on their site i think, just when you email them it gets sent to POTN.com

craigy_87
15th June 2007, 14:11
just phoned POTN the guy started saying something about sometimes ashley centre sections dont fit up to the backbox's when there bought seperate from the system at first i thought bollocks but then i had a think av seen loads of ashley backboxs that have a different pipe coming from it (that joins to the centre section), for example mine hardly has any pipe coming out of the backbox at all while others av seen a pipe come out with a bend in it. sorry if thats confusing lol

craigy_87
15th June 2007, 14:14
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f68/craigy_87/091120061630.jpg

see this is mine jus a small piece of pipe coming from the box in the backbox

craigy_87
15th June 2007, 14:29
POTN just phoned back 70 pound delivered from ashley
he was saying something about fitting it onto the backbox but i couldnt really understand him lol
i wouldnt be fittin it myself anyway
can anyone who has fitted one let me know how the centre section fits onto the backbox?

Sparco_Tom
16th June 2007, 02:06
its a sleave then clamp the two sections together. The backbox fits over the top of the center section, get a big hammer out get a nice tight fit job done

craigy_87
16th June 2007, 10:24
thanks for that mate :y:

craigy_87
18th June 2007, 12:58
