Air filter & Exhaust question

Ok i've got a saxo 1.1i and was wondering what air filter i can get and whether or not a backbox will give it any noise. I don't want anything stupidly loud just nice and deep but not stupidly loud. Any help appreciated.

backbox will give you more noise but not much more, removing the cat/silencer will increase it more, id just replace the filter with a standard one as with a 1.1 you are not going to increase the power to notice.

i fitted a vtr piper X cone 2 my 1.1 after abit of fucking about and i dint notice a difference but it did sound slightly thoatier if i was u jus get a nice back box and stick with standard filter

tbh i'd leave the cat in, its more hassle than its worth, and you'll see next to no performance gains at all, get yourself a straight through exhaust and trust me that'll be loud enough!

With such a small cc engine I wouldnt muck around with the exhaust too much, a back box from somebody like Peco or Sportex will give you a throaty deep exhaust note which will do you fine.

Removing siliencers and cats might see a slight improvement in performance but again with it being such a small cc it will be hardly noticable and the noise level will greatly increase. Get the exhaust setup wrong with no boxes etc could do more harm than good and lead to a drop in performance rather than increase.

Airfilter, should make the car slightly more free reving due to the increased surface area compared to your factory airbox design but I doubt your see any gains apart from noise.

Check out eBay first 'Saxo induction' and 'Saxo exhaust' to see whats available then take it from there really.

if your looking for an open airfilter i just won one on ebay and the person selling ti said it fitted any model it only fits 1.1's! will sell you it for £20 collected, not paid him yet we are having a dispute lol there £50 new and he said its brand new! its your call..... saves me getting neg feedback and you get a cheap induction kit
