VTR-98

After going from a VTR to a VTS, and the simple mods. I was wondering what do throttle bodys actaully do, how easy are they to fit, what bhp gains are from them, and how much does it cost to buy them and everything else needed for them.
Cheers guys

throttle bodies!!
1. they are not cheap, 1K really for the bodies for DTH ones by kms (available from qep)
2. you need standalone (500-1k again)
3. this needs mapping 400-500.
fitting them is ok but you want them set up etc.. when the mapping is done.
you dont have a set bhp gain as its dependant on the cam profile, you only really need TBs on mad cams imo.
throttle bodies, are individual butterfly systems which help reduce the effects of chrage robbing from each cylinder, which can occur with the OE inlet mnaifold system using the plenum. They can help with rough idle on mad cams, and generally give better/more even airflow to each cylinder

Plus the sound :)
You can get similar to a turbo application with bodies, but as with a turbo its also expensive!.

Similar what? BHP figures? not likley on a vts your can expect probs at a push around 180bhp at the fly with TB's (unless your BIC) with a turbo it can be anything up to 300bhp probs even more!

power wise an NA car wont touch a boosted engine.
average TB set up without spending 2k on the head/bottom end together is 160-170..
boosted most hit well over 200 at the fly..
so most than a similar power there tbh.
