Hi everybody, juat so that you all know im not into saxo's at all, im a through and through VW bloke! But my mates got a VTR and his engine has popped! He's found a replacement from a VTS, and asked me to fit it as Im quite experienced (with VW's) Im just posting the question really to just find out info on the swap, is it easy? I dont really want it to take me more then a day because im only charging him £100
cheers saxo boys, hope to whoop your arse's in my 20v turbo mk1 jetta some time soon LOL ;)
Can i just say that the above is a joke so please dont withold info from me for being a VW head. But my jetta will still whoop all your arse's! (200bhp in a tin can!, thank f**k for roll cages & big brakes)
cheers, funky.

yes it is if you get the ecu unlocked and the engine is from the same ecu type car, if your mates vtr is single plug and the vts ecu is single plug or both 3 plug,
single plug ecu to 3 plug ecu is harder as needs to be cut and spliced

Fair play on the jetta mate sounds good. pretty easy if you know what your doing with engines. hardest part is the wiring loom

There not to hard to fit if you have all the parts to go with it.
Fany a race? I think 300+ in a Saxo may see your jetta. But round some tracks I would say 1360cc 8V AX would even see it off lol. What am I saying I know it would, I have trashed so many VAG junk heaps. Its always great to see there owners face drop :;):
Why the fuck come on a Saxo forum just to try slag them off, :homme: lol

Read my guide in the FAQ section.
And hes only messing with us, he SHOULD be able beat us with 4 more valves and a turbo.

I havent! i've come on to get info for my mates engine swap and just havin a laugh whilst im here! its those bloody corsa's i cant be doin with! cheers for positive comments about jetta...its taken me a long time to build but its here now in all its mettalic brown 1979 finery! :afro: The hardest part with that was the engine management, but then it is a little more complex putting a 2003 engine into a 1979 car then it is to put two similair engines into one another! managed it in the end though with megasquirt! And it is quite honestly the fastest car i have ever been in!!!
So back to the thread! lol ...the loom is the only 'dificult' bit then, I just need to find out if his loom is a 1 or a 3, any ideas on engine codes for either?

look at the ecu mate, see if it has 1 or 3 plugs going onto it then make sure u get an engine that coresponds with that.
ideally you need the vts engine running and then unplug the immobiliser while its running to unlock the ecu but you can just send it away to be unlocked i think theres a compnay called bluehawk that do it for £80
also make sure u unplug vtr immobiliser if you dont get pro unlocked ecu
also make sure you get the VTS rad top hose and there will be a fuel return to run back to the tank you can get the 1 out of the vts or make your own i made mine with halfords fuel hose and it works fine. or you can just block it off.
other than that its a fairly simple 1 out 1 in process and with the loom plugs matching should fire straight up.
