I have a 2002 VTR (grey top) and on the dial it goes up to 140mph but was wondering what was the actual top speed of it.

Cheers

Why not try it and see! smileys/smiley15.gif

On the book it says 120 but I had a 1.1 and on the book it said 101 and I got it to 110! so should think you can get a bit more outta that.

Scott

the maximum speed you can reach on standard rims on standard vtr box with standard limit is 141mph.
And you wont reach that without a good leap in power.

xplode
28th September 2004, 18:07
Bet it would take a long stretch to get to that speed.

Scott
28th September 2004, 18:29
depending on how much power you have, the m-developments vts will do a standing start to 140 mph in 3/4 of a mile

xplode
28th September 2004, 18:31
My VTR is standard power, it would take ages. .

citrovts
28th September 2004, 18:41
mine did with 2 people 210 km/u thats 131mph but it took ages (more than 5 mile) but now with my spoiler on it only hits 195 km/u (121 mph)

28th September 2004, 18:48
I remember in my old 1.1x i got to 110mph on the clock but that took about 5-10 miles with foot flat to floor.

sax_stu
28th September 2004, 23:44
mine did 130 mph (totally standard at that point) took ages on a huge stretch of a dis-used airstrip

Andyt
29th September 2004, 00:05
I got mine up to 120mph with 2 pppl in the car, still a bit left in it to.

top speeds are for smileys/homme.gif

I've never had my VTR above 105MPH cause i've never seen the need for it....the real bottle & adrenaline comes in when ur nailin it round corners smileys/smiley4.gif ....country roads etc...I've touched cloth a few times durin the steep learnin curve, finding the maximum/extreme handling capabilities.....with a good tyre & suspension....truly an amazing car smileys/smiley4.gif

Andyt
29th September 2004, 00:44
in reality then, where is the need to have ure car at 105mph anyway, if not just to see how fast it can go?

DOGGS

erm, the motorway?

I cruise at 90ish on the motorway so natually i've fluctuated 10mph....the engine still isn't totally sressing as it would be if I was pushing a top speed. so in reality its quite feasible, u tosser smileys/smiley17.gif

Andyt
29th September 2004, 01:40
harsh, no need for the petty insult. U have fluctuated by more than 10mph if u managed to hit 105mph.

I dont wanna make every1 smileys/smiley19.gif But arnt dash Speedos inaccurate! 10% out in most cases! Well... accurate till 30mph! thats why speed camers alow 10% +2 mph before they snap your licence away... or that load of cash you thought you saved for that rainy day! smileys/smiley7.gif

Scott

yes speedos on the saxo can be highly innacurate so more than others

dont come on puplic forums claiming that you have been speeding on public roads you F"<£ing P£(ck....

Drive carfully & you will live longer... not to mention avoid killing others....! & keep your licence not that you deserve it!!!!!!!!!!! smileys/smiley7.gif

Yes the VTR can reach 120 on the clock! now that really doesnt extend your penis any more tho, does it...!!??

VTaaRon
25th January 2006, 13:21
different vtrs have different clocks tho the latter vtrs have 98bhp so a bit faster but unless you have a way of testing, the speedos are so inaccurate youd never get the actual speed from the inside ( except up to 30mph smileys/smiley17.gif )

ay westy, its a bit harsh calling someone a fucking prick on there first post!?!

he wasnt the only person to admit he's sped on public roads 3 or 4 others have too!!!

welcome to the site martin..

what the is your deal here? Thats completely out of order especially when you completely contradict what you are saying > "Yes the VTR can reach 120 on the clock!"

Just tread carefully.

bah ill have to stick with the thrill of checkin the handlin on the more challenging roads n perfectin my drivin there. my sax is only a 1.0i at the mo so top speed is 100mph which takes about 100 miles to get to. itll all change soon tho when i get a bit more cashflow

spencer_cammedvts
25th January 2006, 18:35
you get a lot of people on hear that are quick to point the finger when others admit speeding but everyone has done it!

yer its not big and all that & no-one should ever promote it but i think everyone should calm down with the calling a bit! fair enough tell people what you think about it not being BIG and HARD but ya don't need to proper slate people!

also like someone has mentioned in other topics there is a time and a place i.e. open roads with a long view of whats ahead! other than that leave it for track days etc...

does anyone agree?!!!

b0t13
25th January 2006, 21:06
track days should be used to test the limit of ur car, so speeding at 135mph + on a motorway is asking for trouble and shouldnt be done

end of.

Scott
25th January 2006, 21:18
All these people that say its ok to do 100+ on long open roads, have any of you ever tried to brake at that speed on saxo brakes. Say a deer or whatever runs out in front of you. You hit your breaks at 100+mph and they will do absolutely fuck all to stop you, so then you ahve to swerve sharply at those speeds and its game over.

25th January 2006, 22:12
Not sure about the higher spec-ed models but my speedo is just above 8% out, I grabbed a sat nav and tested it at different speeds. mine runs on 165/65/R14's. Never gone above 80mph in my beastie - sounds like it'll explode.
And as Scott says with the standard brakes yer buggered if you try to stop quickly at those of speeds. My bike disc brakes are better.

cammedvtr
26th January 2006, 02:06
well i have had my speedo reading 130mph (private road of course) and as adsayer mention on the sat nav and snooper neo 4 they both said 123mph, but i have modded it a little since then. smileys/smiley4.gif , you can all call me what you like because you have all sped at some time or other. yo martin, hows tricks mate?

well said! my point exactly mate!

Scott
26th January 2006, 15:39
doesnt matter if people have done it it doesnt make it right nor does it disguise the fact that at 100+mph if something happens you are fucked.

spencer_cammedvts
26th January 2006, 19:31
you would still be fukd if a deer or whatever ran out on you at 70!

cammedvtr
26th January 2006, 20:48
there is no mead for an argument over it, people will do what they choose to do and we cnt change that. if people drive fast its there choice. the law is there to be honoured but people will break it time to time. smileys/smiley4.gif

well said well said i had my 1.4 at a 115mph in 5th and still had a little left you jus get a little buzz from it its your choice as it has been mentioned its jus the manner you do it in for me it was 1/4 to 5 in the mornin all deers asleep smileys/smiley2.gif

If you speed, fair enough, your decision. I don’t think a public forum is the place to discuss it though to be honest.

My mate hit a deer, lucky for him he wasn’t going fast. Unlucky for the dear tho smileys/smiley17.gif. Why do they always run out in front of cars at the last second, no sense

Hazza17
27th January 2006, 18:26
why is everyone comparing car top speeds. right heres my issue..... you lot buy a saxo, mod it so it looks realy nice but what i dont seem to get is alot of you just hoon it around not giving a fuck about other road users and youself and.... if u've spent all this money on your car and go really fast, no-one will see it so its pointless. ok its good to give it some stick down a country road but on normal roads go carefully. you will learn this in time! i crashed my last saxo and wrote it off and yes i was going too fast so i learned from this and thought why go fast, it dosn't prove anything.....

cammedvtr
28th January 2006, 22:03
well i have also wrote my car of mate, yes going to fast, but i told them to repair it for round two....and bought more engine mods..... smileys/smiley4.gif

alex_vtr

spencer_cammedvts
29th January 2006, 01:58

did you do a roalling road to find that out mate?

alex_vtr
29th January 2006, 02:00
yeah mate but dat was in 2002 ive had the car for ages

Scott
29th January 2006, 02:05

LMFBO! © sax-p! where the hell do people get hese figures from?! the back of Wotsits packets?!

Your sig says "superchip dastec chip" - which one is it?! its definately not both

and - "green cotton viper ram flow induction kit" ?!?!
Theres 3 different brands in there smileys/smiley24.gif

Scott
29th January 2006, 02:42
you can use the superchip and dastec together, most would only do that to raise the limit on the superchip then bin all the other shite on it and use the dastec for everything else.

But i totally agree the sig makes no sense whatsoever, i mean what is a 175 degree cam, the standard is around 264 smileys/smiley5.gif

if you had a nissan skyline gtr r33 you could remove the speedo unit change the din switchs on the back and it will change the speedo to read correct from the wheel size your useing.. smileys/smiley4.gif , how about that then...

my vtr can do 125mph with my 16s on, thats according to my road angel. it takes ages to get there and the water temp gets pritty high too smileys/smiley5.gif the speedo reads more than the road angel smileys/smiley5.gif
thats on a good day mind you smileys/smiley2.gif
