catcam 708s are 16v cams.

ive not checked the range recently but i cant see the 8v cam being called the same.

i Recon you will see around 120-125 could get a good gain from a port and polish with them mods as well as the cams and remap

i cant remeber the catcam 8v range 100%

but i know 708s are a 16v camshaft set up

Yeah thanks, im on the site now.. So it seems to be 125-135... if i got the mods done and the port and polish would this gain much more???

Also, for practicality reasons will the mods decrease the reliability or the life of the car?

Its done 90k full service history by shitreon themselves and in excellent condition

Cheers

was just going to say the same thing as Ryan! but you beat me to it!

Piper 285 seems a popular choice with VTR's

If its in excellent condition these mods wouldnt affect anything i think?
Cams and the other mods would help towards these factors surely as they mean that the engine can be run harder

The engine will be working harder but they like most engines are over engineered so shouldn't be a problem..

I know of an RR proved VTR, with 142bhp with cams & remap, had some breathing mods but no head work!.

straight thru exhaust. kent 285 cam, 4-1, bmc, ported s1 inlet, port n polished head.

made 141bhp but could get more with a better map. Was running off omex tho.

not really, the descrepancy in most rollers is at times laughable, especially when ive seen a few testers run it in the wrong gear, also the nice bonnet air feed you have on a rolling road you wont have when the car is on the road, engine dynos are the most accurate, yet no1 on here would pay to use one.
RR figures imo should be taken with a pinch of salt

Agree with that 100%..

I have seen massive varients in the same car on different rolling roads..

As long as my car goes how i want it to then what the actual power is isn't important to me anyway..

what gear should it be run in? ive been to a few like, and all have used different gears, just thought it was personal preference of the testers

Ryan

IRC - 4th is the gear that should be used, but i need to check.

lol at using different gears out of choice, (not a dig at you btw) but its just proved my point about the innacuracy of these for pub bragging rights.

a different gear will all give different figures.
