I've just set up my speakers into my amp but when i turn the engine I get a sqeaky noise, very thrustrating. I have checked the ground and whereva i put it it does not stop. The phono leads are also running seperatly to the power cable. I even got a filter that you put the phono leads in and then plug into the amp but still problem.
Can anyone help please??
Thanks

bad earth on the alternator or the earth on the amp maybe, could be a sign that the alternator is on the way out too

very bad earth mate, i used the screw holding the back seats in place. but it wasnt very good for my mate he also got this noise. scrath some paint off inside boot, and slap a screw/bolt in there.

have a look in the FAQs

there is no best place just as long as its on the chassis and the paint is ground down to the metal :y:

I have got the earth in a good place. I've rubbed down the paint and drilled a hole in the boot and earthed to a bolt through that.
Anyone know any other suggestions?

where exactly is it earthed mate, could be earthed in a place near a power wire which in turn could cause interference

it was the amp that was faulty on mine not the earth, tried a different amp and its fine

Its earthed in the boot near no wires. Im starting to think its the amp cause its a cheap one i got off ebay 'silversonic'. But it worked fine in my old car. Hmmm any ideas why this is.
