I've been looking at the prices for a remap and i cant help think they are a bit to steep! Would it not be worth going standalone instead? Is there anyone running a standalone management without throttle bodies/turbo/SC

Im just gather info as i've heard good things about camming the vts/gti lump.

Cheers :y:

i would just re-map if not using tb,turbo or sc. you will not really get value from money from a standalone.

a standalone will cost more if getting fitted and set up so its not worth it

no point going standalone like mallboy said unless u are running turbo,sc or itbs

If you are ABSOLUTELY positive you are not going to make any further changes to you car, them mapping the standard ECU is fine. Otherwise, their are many benefits to going with a standalone ECU, especially a very good one such as an Omex 600.

erm why moan about the cost of a remap? if your thinking about standalone you still need it mapped which will cost near the same.

its only later on with tweaking of maps where theyre slightly cheaper to have done.

standalone is for proper engines, if you just want a mild spec engine theyre not worth it imo

I was just thinking for future scope regarding mods as forking out £400 a time for a remap is just silly. If you go standalone the first big fee is just for the software after that your talking £150 a map MAX.

Thanks for the input guys im just considering my options.
