Hey.
I got my Mk2 VTS last week and love it!
Only mods are lowered and BMC air filter (open).
I'm in two minds as to either get a Raceland 4-2-1 manifold, Green enclosed/forced induction kit and a decat or get a standard airbox and panel filter.
The tuning parts seem really cheap for the VTS and I'm sure the enigne would repsond well but roughly what sort of power can I expect to see from the above and also stuff like 0-60 (7.2 as standard isn't it?) how will that improve? Also will this put extra stress on other components or isn't the gain that huge?
Sorry if this has been covered before. I did search but found no clear cut answer. Cheers.

an enclosed filter, manifold, full system and decat youll see around 10-15bhp.
wony be stress on engine as your only letting in colder air and letting your gasses out quicker/better, as these are called breathing mods

is your cat under the car or in the manifold. if it is in the manifold then i would suggest getting a GMC to avoid messing around relocating the oil filter and blocking the oil return valve on the engine block

on the VTS the cat will be under the car AFAIK.
Can't believe the OP is wondering whether to mod..
I'd certainly get a manifold and scoop style induction. Will make the car much freer on the revs and improves pick up. With a 4-2-1 you'll get gains throughout the rev range also.

Will these items improve the way the car performs?
Yes
Will these items improve my enjoyment out of the car?
Yes
Should you buy these items and modifie your car further than present?
Only you can deside
Dont be fooled into thinking these mods will transform you car into a fire spitting monster able of out running a Subrau but they will increase the cars driveablity and increase the enjoyment factor of the car with the added performance and exhaust+induction note, but these items althogether arent cheap.
Depending on the combo of brand, type and layout you could spend upto and over £600 just on an exhaust system - Manifold / Sports Cat or Decat / Sports Cat back Exhaust
Its upto you.
My best advice is to have a word with people in your local area section (regional section) and see if a member with the mods you have mentioned will take you out in his or her car and you can see and hear the difference between a tuned and non-tuned 16v.
Hope that helpd

Hi.
Thanks for the replies. Was looking to spend no more than £300 for the mani, de-cat and filter.
Hit a small problem though, Direct Line won't insure mods till I'm over 25 so might have to stick to just a panel filter and de-cat atm :(
Thanks for the input guys!

hmmmm
id say get a
raceland and raceland enclosed form kam racing, that will bring it to about 200
you could get a de-cat pipe for about 60 but may be best to save up for a system
actually speak to kamracing about the supersprint manifold and exhaust deal that hes been going on about, he said 200 quid all in for that leaving 100 for an induction

Shame...How much longer is your insurance? If its not long just change companies and do it then.

Yeah have been looking at the manifolds and a de-cat and panel filter!
Dunno if it's worth paying twice as much for one that fits straight on though!

Well thing is, Direct Line have quoted me £545 Fully Comp and the nearest to that is Elephant at £830. Direct Line don't do mods till you're over 25! Bit of a catch 22 really :homme:
Cheers.
