what do you mean by backfire like a rally car? you mean you want it to spit flames out the back?
like when you change gear it spits sparks and makes a noise .. not like a butane tank and spark plug job lol

Usually happens when a cylinder fails to fire and you get unburnt fuel in the exhaust manifold.
umm - remove a cylinder? lol

will look a bit daft on a 1.1 saxo daft and funny at the same time tho wud be interested to see
what would have to be done??

rally cars do it beacuse they have made engine work and the exhuast runs so hot that the slightest bit of over fueling or unburnt fuel when under hard breaking causes the flames out the back.

what would have to be done??
a 2 litre rally engine conversion. to be honest mate a lot of work would have to be done on a 1.1 to get what your looking for.
The chav spark plug way is the only way but please o please dont do that.

i know what your on about, mine kind of backfires/spilts but obvious its not the same engine. Go to a costome exhaust place and tell them what your after they should help you out, decating will help abit aswel.
my old exhaust on my 1.1 used to pop sometimes, not much tho it wasnt decatted either.
cheers nd no i aint doin the chav thing lol
think im just goin to sack it dont realy want to spend 2 much thaught it could be done at low cost nd for a 1.1 a new exhaust system doesnt seem worth it

Remove a spark plug!! ;) then you'l get loads of unburnt fuel in the exhaust!!
Wouldn't recommend this though, as it can lead to engine damage, seen someone blow one up doing this at santa pod, lol

erm buy a evo or a scooby simple lol.
tbh all you will do is fk ur engine up if you go on ebay sometimes there is for sale poper kits or somat daft like that it does the same thing that rally cars do i have one cos im a bit of a rally slag but never fitted it cos thought to my self ''WHY DID I BUY THIS LOL''
lol how do those kits work

Just have an injector dumping at 100% duty cycle into the manifold. Fuck.

The spitting and crackling that rally cars make is partly due to the anti-lag system fitted, when accelerating from a closed throttle to get the tubo spining up ready excess fuel is purposely detonated in the manifold, causing the turbo to spin up, reducing lag.
If you want this then junk the 1.1 and get a fully fleged rally engine, however if you are after a pop and the odd crackle from your exhaust then as said above take it to an exhaust place and explain what you want.
Saxmaniac5 has a cat back sytem on his 1.1 and that pops like a good un once warmed up, and my old backbox used to make a few fun noises on closed throttle, that was on a 1.1 too.

im not 100% sure but i think de-catting helps?

you need a high lift cam and overfueling on part throttle. Your car is never going to sound like a WRC car though

Mine doesn't pop and bang that much anyway.... The nova used to, but that was set up to over-spray fuel in, to cool the piston crowns.
The WRC's have 2 ECU modes, one for road, which is basically a std road car setup, and race mode. These are switchable between on the dash.
Why do you want to do it anyway, do you like being pulled over?

my nova pops a flame and a bang on gear changes at around 7k.

You just wont get a 1.1 to do this naturally..Rally cars only do it because of how highly tuned they are and the way they are set up..WRC cars pop etc because they run Turbo's with an anti lag system which makes the car bang when you lift off and stuff..
The Saxo Kit Cars dont really bang either and they are over 200bhp..the later ones used to bang in between gear changes..but i would imagine they were setup slightly differently as they had slightly more power than the earlier ones..

i've done a couple of 2000 1.1. mpi's with the cat in the manifolds. we just put a long drill bit through the cat from the top of the manifold through the lam sensor hole
