well,i bought my vtr,and its just spending all my money for me lol,so im thinking instead of getting a decat pipe and manifold (because right now i really cannot afford it) but just take off the standard cat,and gutting it out, then fitting it again,a boy was showing me his lst night.this way ill be able to keep the standard manifold on also, anybody else tried this?

appart from the fact you fuck the cat up :wall:

so wont do its job properly.

cats are expensive to replace.

well by guttin it out obviously its not going to do the job properly lol, just wondered if it would be the same as a decat pipe as a few saxo owners around here have done it

wont do the job - eg will cause car to fail mot = buying new cat to pass mot.

just buy a decat pipe.

do all the saxos your way race for slips?

you do know that the stuff inside the cat is highly dangerous and can and will make oyu very ill if you touch it or worse breath it in!!!!!!!!!!!1

well its crazy really, i just sold a magnex de-cat pipe for £35, whereas a replacement cat (if you smashed yours up) could cost around £50, so basically it will cost more when it comes to the mot...

Does your car have the cat in the manifold or is it seperate?

MOT will be a problem, emissions get sent straight to the DVLA and if you try the old trick of putting another car on the ramp they WILL know!

You've been warned by everyone that its a "pikeys way to mod" also your engine management light will probably come on, again causing a fail at MOT time, as the lamba sensors will be detecting the wrong amount of fueling!

like i said you've been warned, but you seem to have your mind set on doing it, so..... go for it, its almost asif your saying, its my car, I paid money for it, now........... how can i fuck it up!?

Ive got an old decat pipe i dont want, it had slight damage which was welded and reshaped again....

if you are intersted let me know, you can have it for postage + a couple of quid for going to the posts office, or collect and you can have it fo free....

it would be easier and 100% better to just get a de-cat pipe mate, you should be able to pick one up cheap enough :y:

no they dont send them direct. the computer that tests emissions is not directly linked, to tell if theyre letting emissions ok for mates ;)

ok i decided not to do it,i paid enough for the car and done everything tidy so far so why fuck it up,your right lol.ok so am i right in saying that to get a decat on the mk2 you have to have a manifold aswell?and also does the oil filter have to be moved?cheers
