I have a 2001 (x-reg) vtr. i was looking to get a de-cat system for my car. As I dont know a great deal about cars, was just wandering if this is possible, because if I remember correctly the cat on my vtr is up near the manifold? Is there any sort of system that I can get that will by-pass this?
Cheers.

yes mate your cat will be in your manifold. if you want to de cat the car you will have to change the manifold. you can get a janspeed (mild steel) or a miltek one from cituning (stainless) which have a sports cat in them and will pass an mot, or you can get a gmc, raceland etc manifold that doesnt have any cat in but wont pass and mot and for some of these you may need to re-locate the oil filter.

It all depends on the amount you wanna spend. Have a read of the Exhaust FAQ. If I'm not mistaken sports cats are very expensive. Could be better off with buying a complete de-cat and keep your manifold you have now and then replace it when your MOT arrives.
Cheers
