Get rid and get a VTS mate!!!!!!!!!!! Or do a vts conversion...
If you have plenty of coin then try a turbo/supercharger but will cost a fair whack

one way to make a differeence would be to totally strip the car, but that depends on how practical you want it to be and to be honest wont give you the sort of gain your looking for by the sounds of it. put a vts engine in they arent that expensive really.

unless you add the usual bits like manifold exhaust filter then spend a few quid and go for n-i-t-r-o-u-s. not to every bodys tast but its instant power on demand when wanted/needed and your car is also then normal untill you turn on the magic liquid

Manifold = £120 ish for the race land or the supersprint - better made at £250 ish
Then all your cheap is mods are done with.
Strip the car, look for a cam etc, but after breather mods the price will go up for a decent performance incrase

a manifold would be a good start if you are looking to improve power. After that you are going to have to spend some wedge.. either an engine transplant or start work on the internals of the existing engine..
money tight.. reducing weight improves acceleration, braking, cornering and drivability. And unless you are going silly with composites, just stripping things out is free.
On the handling side a few hundred quid on suspension (decent dampers and springs) works wonders. If you can corner 10-15mph faster than the competition then they need a lot of extra power on the straights to catch up / keep ahead.
Above all avoid these dodgy mods.. resistors, electric superchargers etc.. tuning is something that needs to be thought out and done property especially if you want to make significant gains in performance.

most power for money would be VTS engine.

Reduce Weight
Manifold - 150 up
Cams - 200 up
Remap - 300 - 600 up
NOS - 400 up
bigger engine 200 up
Sticking a VTS gearbox on is a good little thrust gainer, drops the top end tho.
Those are the cheapest the next step up is
ported head - 400 up
throttle bodies - 3000 up
turbo - 3000 up
supercharged 3000 up
If you meant cheap asin less than 100 quid youre gonna have to start saving. But weight reduction gives a suprising feeling of more power

10kg off the weight gives a theoricital extra 1hp for the saxo.
