well it will all be different depending on what information wont it :P
i could say the car would make 3000bhp on a set cam only to find your looking at a different cam profile!
270 is fairly mild, with decent breathing mods etc.. and a good map id expect 110-115 on a 90bhp engine roughly, maybe a lot more but you wont be hitting huge power.
should give nice power curve though and a good drive.

id try searching on here for piper 270 to see what other users have had them fitted feel it performs like, either way caming an engine gives better power.
a map ontop though makes it an expensive job to do so make sure you mae the right decision first time round.

a 270 would be to mild, you want a 285.
before you consider it aswell, you want a manifold change first and prob induction kit. youll need remap if fitting cam aswell with a vernier pulley, cam belt etc

it is worth it for some gain, not everyone wants huge power.
read my comments though earlier about selecting the cam choice right first time! and that the 270 was mild :P

285 can require more additional work though, not looked deeply into it yet.
i friend has a 285 in his s2 though which runs nice :D

and back onto the topic which was asked.
a mapping session can be on average between 250-500 depending on the mapper.
catcam do some good 8v cams to apparently.

Cat cams give a few more offerings than Piper which may be better for you.
Would need your current engine spec in order to pick the best one for you

while on the subject of cams, would a set of newmans PH3's go well with tb's or is a bit wilder cam possible?

not too familar with the Newman range. The advantage of TBs is that you can run a wilder cam profile and still retain an idle.

oh right, PH3's are similar to 708's iirc.

708s and similar spec are fine for TBs imo, unless you want to fork out for forged pistons, as if you go to wild you will need forgies/rebated std pistons.

what are the future plans for the engine? staying NA? possible different induction route like bodies?
where do you want the power? all things you need to think about when selecting cam

I've decided I don't like 708s anymore. I want something that gives more power higher in the rev range. When I fitted the 708s, the location of the max bhp and max torque stayed exactly where it was with the stock cams...

what you planning now then? i know your planning on bodies? so if so gonna get forged pistons so you can run some 807, 809 type cams :P

I think the plan will be to just get it running with proper management and TBs for now. I'm worried that I'm not doing the engine any good at the moment, as it's running rich and probably blocking the internals up with shyte deposits! :(
Also there's the horrible jumping / jerking when light throttle is applied, or when de-accelerating. It's so annoying when driving at around 70mph and as soon as you let off the throttle the car is well unhappy. Obviously the butterfly has to stay open for a moment when you let off the throttle, or some serious damage would occur, so I think this has hasn't been set up correctly, or is now not set correctly since Wayne mapped the car...
Once the car is running nicely, I will defo be planning in putting some serious cams in there. I want the power at the high rev range area... If I want to go quick, I'm not going to be fcuking about at 5000 rpm FFS... Sadly, that's there all the power is at the moment, so it's pissing me off.

Well eventually going turbo...but that will bring on a different cam & head completely so forget that for now.
And i want the power on the road.... as much of it as possible. Lol No the car will be used on track but also daily on the road. But that doesn't mean it has to be a comfy drive.

how soon before you go turbo?
as really can you justify spending alot on NA then scrapping it all for a boosted set up?
id sort the managment out with a cam that will give good power but is not mega power, so you can add the turbo later on without having to rip it all out again.
if NA something like a piper 285 is a very good cam for 8v engines. ive not seen much info on the catcams atm, will need to let kam come on with more information for you.
