also... will i need to change my hubs etc for vtr driveshafts or do they use the same splines?.. as i'd really like to keep my car 3 stud but use brembo drilled and grooved discs and greenstuff pads.. :)

this will be a right pain in the ass tbh mate, ya got all sorts need changing, such as, power steering could be an issue, rear axle and for the rear discs, driveshafts need changing, not sure on splines on a vtr - 3 stud conversion? (which basically is what it is), the list goes on mate....

no you got me all wrong mate.. i wont be putting the rear axle off a vtr in, will just be stronger front brakes.. power steering, hate it with a passion, gives you no feel of the car.. and i wont be vtr kitting it either, want to build a sleeper.. are the engine mounts in the same places? :)

mmmm? yeah the mounts should be in the same place, just been on with an engine conversion @ home with my old boy on a land rover, the engine we put in was nearly double the bhp of the original and all we needed to do was change the position of the mounts on the engine and the holes for the new position were already there, so any way yeah the mounts are probs the same. you'll have better stopping power with the rear discs tbh, all though the bad side with rear discs on such a light car is that with heavy braking the back end always seems to quite badly lock up and you end up nearly side ways!

yep thats exactly why i dont want rear discs.. also i just dont wanna change away from my 3 stud as i've just bought alloys.. maybe a haynes manual is in order :)

Too much hassle to be honest, you'll be better off selling your car and getting a MK1 VTR for around £1k

oh i can get insured easy enough with it mate, not costing that much extra.. dont know why they can insure me so easy with just the engine and not full car lol pricks..

for the speeds a power a vtr makes its highly recommended you use 4 stud all round (hence why 1.4's and up use them).. also you will need vtr shafts.. tbh your best bet is to buy a crashed vt and steal the bits.. making sure its not abs cos that makes things worse :)
as for the engine.. you will need a unlocked ecu with the car (propper way) or send it off (£££) make sure its a mk1 black top vtr with single plug ecu to.. as a 3 plug will mean re-wiring the whole car..
hope that helps..

I find it weird that you don't like power steering, I thought everyone liked it lol! Each to their own. I personally think you'd be much better off buying a VTR or a Furio 1.4, less hassle and you can get insured on it.

i saw the words GREENSTUFF (AKA GREENSHIT) pads in there.
personally id go 4 stud conversion. (i understand about the wheels but id sell em lol)
the driveshafts on 1.1s are weaker than VT models and are single piece as opposed to two piece (on the longer shaft) if i remeber correctly.
wishbones are weaker to etc...
