The car has been playing up for a while, when driving when i rev to about 3000rpm and change gear the revs hold at 3000rpm until i let the clutch out. Its starting to get on my tits as it isn't allowing me to back off any when driving on or about 60 mph. Where i would have normally backed off the throttle to slow down i'm now having to brake if that makes sense.
It aint a fuel problem
The throttle butterfly isn't sticking open
Any other suggestions, my first thought was that its a sticky throttle cable but i'm not too sure. It isn't revving on its own its just not backing off the revs or it takes a second to do so.
I appreciate any help

poss knackered ICV or an air leak in the manifold.

i second that sounds like ICV or an air leak somewhere, mine was doing this at one point just take the icv off the inlet manifold clean it and put back on ..

now i have my exhaust fixed I can here air being sucked somewhere around the throttle bodie somewhere, had a quick look but could not see any thing,
is this a common problem with the vtr?

its sounds like theres an air leak just go around the inlet manifold looking for any loose hoses sensors etc check the air box setup aswell if you dont have an aftermarket induction system otherwise check that everything is tight nd then try again
