of the car from PFC a while back now. The pics he sent me were of the exact same engine (open blue piper pulleys with rusted bolts were the give away). 5.5k new?! He said 6k initially for it 2nd hand lol! Well I would of been the 3rd owner. |
Im sure when i last spoke to colin it was 5.5k fitted.
Not 100% mind but it was around there new as colin was trying to get me to go for it when i was considering bodies. That engines more of a whore than bics first one then with the curved M3 trumpets lol |
LOL! Either way think its a good thing I didnt bother with it.
Whens the next time your putting the shllagggg on track? |

Erm cars off for mapping on 17th, MOT due 19th.. so depends how soon I get the MOT certificate sorted tbh. Id like to get another day in this month lol |
I think if I ever make the step up even a mild spec would much prefer my own engine man. Just the fact I know its a solid/well looked after base.
Cool, would love to check it out at the next event. |
Dodsons engine was £6k fitted, but the build itself was prob only £3k worth of parts.

Either way 4k second hand not even fitted was a laughable price for what isnt really a high spec. I dont even think it used high comps, just standard pistons with extra work for the bigger valves and wilder cams. I doubt they were solid grind either as they were the '285' piper cams as advertised but colin wouldnt ever tell me what they really were. |

Getting a secondhand engine isnt bad, if you know where its coming from, my engine has had Ian who built it, then alex... ok its been used but I know the history of it and didnt have a problem buying it. Sometimes second hand is better, you know it works and can test drive it in a car, as oppoised to having an engine builder fuck it up, nick your money and run. |
I thought I knew a bit about cars..... The majority of these posts lately have gone completely over my head! Lol.
Shame... I wish I knew enough to be able to build somethin' really track-worthy. Since my Furio's barely road-worthy. Ha. |

his name was ian/porki on shed :homme: Update anyway, its still fucked...... Ecu might be going off to emerald now. |
see what mr walker can do in his magic workshop :)

Wiring isnt happy though, think alot of the problems come from forgetting to remove the ecu in the snow. |
i knew ian had a hand nut didnt know he did the whole motor

Alex got it when it wasnt running from ian and got it road worthy again, updated the suspension (same as what I had for the s1) and then the diffed S2 box. Alex and I both inherited what was mostly ians work/money. (Im not ashamed of the fact either, it saved me alot of money) |
I built the car essentially.
Fitted the 4 pots, suspension, cage, seats etc. Ian only fitted the engine & ecu(badly i may add) Then i bought it, stripped it down, rebuilt it with the quaife diffed box, R888s, new clutch, new fuel system, redid oil cooling system, rewired it, redid the suspension(custom springs & pugsport dampers, refurbed beam, 22mm torsion bars, grpN bilstein rears, uprated bushes all round, no PAS), brakes & seats, stripped it out considerably more and fitted the carbon bonnet. Also replaced most of the nuts and bolts. I originally bought the car just for the engine & cage to put in my red vts but decided to sell the vts, buy a decent every day car and keep the ghey blue car! Anyway moving on: Quote:

At least they got back to us rather sharpish on the email.
So you going to try the other ecu 2mo then after work? Ill try and come over and sort the beam with you, as cant be fucked to go sort my glasses out I think lol!! |
