Little bit of progress after work today.

Got a filler spreader made and started applying filler to the weld, but I ran out half way through, still miles off lol. :wall:

Important boot progress!

lol. :drink:

Adam_Q 11th August 2009 20:51

cj_99 11th August 2009 21:57

I love that bumper looks amazing youve done a great job with making all the lines match up :y: . Get that front and rear end down though :p

Winny 11th August 2009 22:00

I've been told the same off friends lol, the coilovers have a good bit left to wind down. Do you think I'll need arch work to drop it a little lower?

you know it makes sense :). Nah i wouldnt have thought so as you have spacers and good sized tyres just get it sitting just on the tyres :p

Winny 11th August 2009 22:09

I'll give it a shot this weekend between filling! ;)

Winny 13th August 2009 22:25

Small update, did some work on my boot after work.

The bit of filler above where the "Saxo" badge was, was a small dent, but its gone now! :y:

Winny 14th August 2009 17:48

Progress is slow and steady, trying to get a body-shop like finish takes time! :(

Made a custom sanding block for the bottom sill on the boot so I can get the lines matched up.

Still hope to be finished and onto smoothing the door handles and keyholes this weekend. :bored:

PSPDan 14th August 2009 18:18

This looks amazing so far mate. Keep it up :y:

Anthony 14th August 2009 19:40

Nice progress mate.

Wish i had a custom sanding block for the bottom sill on the boot when i was respraying mine lol, had a bloody dent right on it took ages to get 100% with a regular filler spreader.

mattbarnes34 14th August 2009 23:49

looks awesome mate just been through ur thread and the work ur doing is good and proper keep it up!
the hard work will be worth it!

Winny 16th August 2009 20:16

Finished ready to prime!:drink:

Bought some low profile Xsara washer jets off eBay too, to mount into the front sill and smooth the bonnet later this week.

Winny 19th August 2009 21:46

Bump, washer jets aren't on yet but I wanted to start work on cleaning the bonnet.

Relocating the jets to the scuttle was an easy job! :y:

Wet and dry sanded, just about ready to prime.

Door locks and bump strip badges next, four weeks till spraying! The boot and bumper need a gallon of stopper before that though..:fcuk:

Saxlow 19th August 2009 22:05

jdizzy 20th August 2009 11:43

i like how youve got the washers mate :)

Winny 23rd August 2009 21:45

Thanks for the comments everyone! ;)

Done a little door cleaning today. Removed the door badges and painted the recess with evo stick, then sprayed it with sand to give a good surface for filler to bond to.

I also de-locked the car, fiberglassed behind the hole.

One picture of the whole car, although its a tad messy my thread needs a 'whole' picture!

I've filled all the recesses in each door but its too dark to take a picture!

SaxoIOW 23rd August 2009 21:51

I've done the grill earlier in the thread.

As for the interior I'm going to do a custom retrim.

Unsure about colour though, its still in planning until I finish the bodywork.:y:

Your cars looking good, I just want to know about the washer jet relocation, did you use the standard saxo washer jets? And do they work as well as in the bonnet?

S8TTG 24th August 2009 20:03

With a wooden mould for the fiberglass bit, and an accurately measured cut-out from the origonal bumper, its easy, just blending it in with filler takes a long time, but as does any filler work if you want a really good finish.

The washer jets work fine after I directed the jets with a pin into my window lol, I have some flat black Xsara ones from eBay now just waiting to put them on, trying to finish prep work for spraying.

I might remove the vertical slats from the bumper, want to keep some lines in the car. :p

Winny 6th September 2009 20:35

Bump! Had the front bumper off today to make the lower 'grill' into a single bar, and remove all of the vertical slats, although after removing all of the supporting bits of plastic the middle bar was so wobbly, me and my Uncle just lopped it out. Widemouth!

Did a little work on the boot too, fitted a solenoid onto a plate and my Grandad made a mechanical way to get into the car, incase my central locking fails or the battery goes flat, the where-abouts of which will be a closely guarded secret lol!

Thats just about all of the body work done for me, car goes in for spraying in 5 days!:drink:

saxomat 8th September 2009 15:10

good progress lookig forward to it all painted :y:
