ah right just ignore my last pager steve lol, i thought you meant the engine start, what bulbs do i need for them then just normal LEDs like the alarm one?

dannyjay 28th March 2007 23:45

I so want to do this, but I really don't have the balls to do it. And I don't feel safe removing the steering wheel?

Looks awesome though, my cd player lights up blue so would be awesome if it was to match!!

Predator_R32 28th March 2007 23:47

its easy mate honestly just follow steves guide and you will have no problems, i used a normal soldering ironwith the flat head end, basically all you do is stroke it across the solder while using the tweezers to pull the old one off and basically the same putting it back on :y:

thats the hardest part because there fiddly and small

Saxo-Slag 28th March 2007 23:52

Im trying this at some point

Yea you will be fine mate.

You dont need to remove the whole steering wheel, as mentioned in above posts just loosen the bolts so that you can adjust the steering wheel lower so you can access the screws.

Its all explained though, the soldering isnt particularly hard either as pred mentioned just need a steady hand.

i posted this guide up on a 106 forum and one of the mk1 lads had a go at doing it, he got some special leds that go in place of the bulbs but he said the dial filter on the mk1s are coloured green on the inside and uses white bulbd so when he put the blue ones in it made the green filer go a rank green/blue colour the he said didnt look nice at all

Can you not take the filter out or change the filter then?

no the filter cannot be removed, if u can get some clear ones off lockwood or something then u could do it

mattchewone 29th March 2007 09:29

Is that the only way then. How much would a lockwood filter thing cost?

LeviSaxo 29th March 2007 09:37
