Shannon-ob's 53 Black VTR. Overdue update.

Hello everyone!

As some of you may know, my old Mauritius blue 16v VTR died.

So I was on the look out for a new car (had to be a Saxo, and had to be black)
after a few days of looking. I found one. It had an awesome spec!

It was a 2003 53 plate Black VTR
It had 43,445 miles
Full air bag interior
ABS all round
Lowered 40mm
No tax or MOT though :n:

But for a bargain of a price £600

So I got the missus to kindly drive me to Surrey to go have a look at it.

When I got there it looked amazing :) Had a look around it and no rust what so ever. Took it for a drive around a private sorta housing estate and it drove so good!

I had to have it.

Yes, a few things will be changed... Exhaust :wall: :homme:

Oli-VTR 1st April 2013 10:59

looks clean, exhaust is maybe not the best tho!

M.O.T time!

So I got it home and was time for the M.O.T. I knew it was going to fail. Due to the ABS light being on when I bought it.

But I took it in anyway to make sure there wasn't anything else that would need doing. Unlike so other Saxo's I know it had a very small failure list 5 things to be exact.

Those things were;

Anti-Lock braking system warning lamp indicates an ABS fault

Offside rear fog lamp not working

Offside rear shock absorber has an excessively worn bush (no bush at all to be honest.)

Battery insecure

Nearside inner front CV joint gaiter split.

Obviously some of these things are quick and easy, like putting a new bulb in, swapping battery from old car (one in this is too big) Lucky the chap gave me the standard shocks with the car so that will be a quick swap.

Whilst I was at the garage I got the M.O.T tester to plug in to the car to find out what was causing the ABS light to be on. It came back saying no readings at all from nearside front and rear sensors so they have been ordered.

The CV gaiter was cheap but by no means quick as it's the inner one :wall:

Yeah I know I have a 4-2-1 and my supersprint to put back on :)

Just means I have to get a new bumper at some point as there is now a cut out for the other tip.

shannon-ob 1st April 2013 11:06

This was the difference in the batteries;

Oh and this has been swapped straight away as it was really gay -.-

I've also got an ECU cover on :) No picture yet though but I'm sure you can all imagine what it'll look like.

Oli-VTR 1st April 2013 11:13

pretty sure i've just seen someone breaking a black vt in the for sale section so you should be able to grab a bumper there

shannon-ob 1st April 2013 11:13

Plans.

The plans are as follows;

Make a set of number plates at work (just to clean it up for now, pressed ones will be put on)

Put my 4-2-1 and supersprint system on

Put my audio set up in from old car

Put my half leather interior in from old car

BBS's From old car to go on.

New rocker cover

My battery cover to go on

De-wiper and fit stalk.

Omp steering wheel to go on

Upper and lower braces to go back on (unsure whether to fit lower again)

Black a b c pillars to go back on

Unsure whether to put s2 rallye carpet back in?

Buy a citroen badge for the boot.

Put my depos in

Maybe put my smoked jewels in

Put the standard grill on as meshed one is not in properly

I think this is everything at the moment!

shannon-ob 1st April 2013 14:06

S2 Rallye carpet. Yes or no?

I don't know whether to put my Rallye carpet back in. Can anybody help?

shannon-ob 4th April 2013 08:19

Got a few bits on last night!

Managed to get the 106 gti half leather seats in

My depo lights

My smoked jewels

And my wind deflectors.

Apologies on the mess :P

Before headlight swap

After

C&C welcome.

Alex! I will need one at some point when I put super sprint back on. But not just yet as I'm lacking on money :(

shannon-ob 4th April 2013 21:05

Got a few more bits done for retest on mot.

Got the inner cv gaiter done and the rear shock

Then as always, came to the last fail and problem. Rear abs sensor snapped :( yay fiddly job.

Got my upper front strut brace on though :)

I had to physically smash my rear abs sensor off when i changed mine over on my vts.

But car's looking good, i was tempted to buy this car but the no tax/mot put me off

Bit late now it's sold lol. May just keep an eye out for red one lol

shannon-ob 5th April 2013 20:52

Good news!

Firstly the Supersprint is back on and the homo powerflow is off :)

Secondly when going to fit the supersprint I noticed that it has a bolt in the centre section. Where the second lambda sensor can go. Just means I need to extend the wiring on it :y:

That is all.

So hard to find a good one though :/

shannon-ob 7th April 2013 20:47

Pictures!

So few pictures that I promised...

The sprayed door which now makes me believe its been in an accident of some sort :n:

Whilst playing in the interior I found this;

A map light plug :D

I put some new bulbs in, side lights, number playte lights and silvertec indicators front and rear.

Also a good picture of the Jewels. (yes I know I need to dewiper but it's stuck so going to wind my puller :y: also aware of missing Citroen badge which I'm sorting).

I also fitted these...

Which made it look like this

Just needs smaller profile tyre and stretch and to be lower!

shannon-ob 9th April 2013 10:45

Finally got the rear wiper off :)

Slyboogie 9th April 2013 10:59

Curious, where the bung is everyone says to use out the boot because I can't ever find one in either my 106 or saxo :L

Looks tidy mate :)

JoeHindle 9th April 2013 11:02

Take the carpet out and in the bit there are two wide bungs (they cover the rear beam bolts) it should be a little round one in the middle of the two

A lot of the Saxos and 106s that I've owned haven't had them either lol. They're crap for de wiper bung anyway. I have one of them hard rubber ones and its a lot better!
