how to change coolant(sticky?)

ok peeps after several pm here you go

ok bleed niples are located here

first of all drain coolant complete you will need to disconnect the bottom hose on the bottom of the rad here

and reconnect it

then you will need a bleed bottle i heard of a coke bottle being used ect but get 1 from citroen it will be easyer there less than £20 makes life easyer

ok you need 3l bottles of coolant pore in just over 2L of coolant
undo all 3 nipples(in order of pictures) (this is a vts but all saxos are located in the same place

and now top up with water wait till the nipples start to leak with a nice stream of blue liquid and do them up nice and tight

now start up engine allow to idle for 1-2 mins then raise the revs to 1000-1500 rpm

wait for the cooling fan to kick in then return rpm to idle and allow the fan to kick in once again remove bleed bottle and give the car a good run

return and check the level all ok sorted

remember if this helps set me up a rep guys and girls cheer steve

ps ill try and get a pic of a bleed bottle

steveos_vts 30th October 2006 22:59

ok forgot to mention if you have the sound of rushing water after you have done it this way open the nipples up and bleed the system again it due to a air block in the heater matrix so just keep bleeding it till its gone

doubledavies 31st October 2006 13:04

what about the header tank? will the excess water be drawn into the system?

steveos_vts 31st October 2006 17:35

yes it willl so you will need to suck it out or just drain it eg undo the bleed nipple just so the level is correct on the header
sorry bud was ment to pm you about this soz bud

VTaaRon 31st October 2006 17:38

wicked gotta do this soon on mine cheers

steveos_vts 31st October 2006 17:41

thats ok no problem bud

doubledavies 1st November 2006 20:09

did mine today, no probs, used a milk bottle as a header tank - perfect fit

steveos_vts 1st November 2006 22:51

good good nice 1 bud

VTaaRon 2nd November 2006 09:26

whats this about milk bottles and header tanks?? bit confused

doubledavies 2nd November 2006 09:45

^ you have to use a header tank to fill the system, i used a milk bottle with the end cut off instead of paying for a £20 shitroen one

VTaaRon 2nd November 2006 10:11

you mean just to go on the top of the coolent resevoir tube? for when you pour coolent back in?

doubledavies 2nd November 2006 10:28

^ yep, do you have a haynes?

when the system is filled you will need to have more water than he expansion tank will hold, as the excess water will expand and then be drawn into the system :)

pics?

Saxo-Slag 2nd November 2006 10:52

Need to do this aswell soon.

i have a haynes yes what page??

VTaaRon 2nd November 2006 12:58

oops just found it page 1A.19 but it says when doing up the bleed valves it goes:

a) radiator valve
b) thermostat valve
c) coolant gallery valve

steveos_vts 2nd November 2006 18:03

any order really doesent matter

ok the point of the blead take (milk bottle what ever you wanna use )

is so the water level is the highest point on the system hence pushing all the air out the system

dsh85 28th November 2006 23:18

good thread matey ive been looking for it! possibly a chance of it being made sticky now winters coming?

Lisonjeiro 1st June 2007 20:30

cool now i go a overheating on my CAR !!!!!

Ben_L 12th August 2007 23:22

this would be because you still have air in the system.

VTR_Dan_VTS 3rd January 2008 23:48

superb, but the pics dont load?

KamRacing 4th January 2008 09:25

http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=119992

why drain all the water out? Use my method on the thread above.

dianahepworth 21st May 2008 11:38

Ahh.. I've been looking for this..
My saxo isn't overheating or anything.. just losing coolant (not very often I thought).
It's coming out of the overflow hole at the top, but.. it's not overfilled...
So, I filled it right up, then about 3 days later I've lost an entire LITRE of coolant.. (I can't bloody afford this every few days for my life..)

Will this help it??

vijibiji 9th November 2008 22:44

Please reapair the pictures. It's very usefull this sticky. Please Please

Prickle 9th November 2008 23:02

tbh, all i do is wait till the coolant/water goes a bit and than i top it up with fresh coolant, instead of bleeding the system etc

The coolant level shouldnt drop too much on its own mate, and the actual coolant in the mix strips all the crap out of the coolant system as it works, if you dont flush it every 2 years or so its not good for your car atall

vijibiji 11th November 2008 10:34

What about the pictures,or they are too old????Someone?????

minibmxer 22nd November 2008 20:53

ye i agree on the pics, can any one help sort it out or get new ones?

CSta 24th September 2009 15:46

Any chance of re-linking those pics? I seem to have the 'rushing water noise' from time to time, only 45k on the clock so will be pissed off if it's a head gasket problem!

azzer1987 10th August 2011 19:54

Hi the pics for bleeding coolant have gone ?

Matt_e 10th August 2011 20:05

have you looked at the date when the last post was made?

azzer1987 10th August 2011 20:08

No this reason i was asking if can be reloded bk up from any1 lol

Norm7446 2nd December 2012 12:20

Why is this still a Sticky..
