re newing anti freeze?

Hi, i was thinkin about bleedin all my coolin system down and puttin all new anti freeze in.

Is it a easy job?

Thanks

find the bleed valve, undo and let it drain from here while keeping the expansion tank topped up, stops air getting into the system. When the water coming out the bleed valve is the colour of the new fluid tighten it up and its job done

Nice little trick that I’d never thought of doing it like that:y:

i was going to drain the system and then flush it out, also flushing my radiator. Then was going to renew all the fluid.

and i did it this way, how would i get the new fluid in if i had the expansion tank top on ?

cheers

i'm pretty sure that when you have the bleed valve open, as its draing you keep pouring the new fluid into the system.(not literally pouring, topping it up.) As KamRacing says when the fluid coming out of the bleed is the same as the fluid u r putting in, tighten it up and the job is done!

cool cheers matey, yeh u pour it in when bleed valve is open, but it doesnt go in the bleed valve, what valve/cap have u gotta open to put the new stuff in ? is it one on the radiator ?

Chico999 4th January 2008 11:34

Aye its the main water tank im pretty sure!
Al go and have a quick look. Im sure it is tho.

Chico999 4th January 2008 11:39

Hmmm cant seem to find it the now. Kinda at work lol.
Ehh my advice would be to check the water level and drain some fluid via the bleed. If you see it go down then top it up!
:y: :y: hope this helps:y: :y:

Wouldn't you have to run the engine as you top it up.

littleracer 25th September 2009 02:09

this is how i do it

drain coolent
reconnect hose
top expansion tank right up
run engine
keep topping level up
undo bleed nipple until air stops]
replace bleed nipple run the engine upto normal running temp
re open bleed nipple very slightly (be very carefull)
do up bleed nipple and replace expansion tank cap
away you go.

if the engine isn't running the water isn't circulating
