amp constantly on?
i am a bit unsure why my amp is constantly on would appreciate any help..
the remote is connected right.. on the headunit i have an acc option which ive turned off and on without effect. currently unplugged the power to turn off the amp but need a long term solution. when i put the headunit into my new car i had to switch over the headunit power cables as it wasnt saving settings.. dunno if this might affect it at all? cheers for any help. |
sounds like the remote cable is connected the permanent live not the switch lived. so need to change which its connected to.
well i used this headunit with the amp previously connected to the blue wire on the back, this worked fine last time.. what colour might the wire be instead then?
were there two wires that you had to swop over to get it to save the settings? if yes then put it to the other wire you swopped it with.
yeah i had to switch the switch live and the perm live to make it save settings.. now thats all i could think might affect it.. now if i change it back again it wont save settings right?
just swop the remote wire on to the switch live, then it will only come on with the cd player i think
my mistake, so its on a switch live cable from in the car? it could be something touching the power terminal to the remote terminal on the amp.
cant see anything.. i could try switching those 2 wired back around.. maybe that will help?
your remote leads isnt connected properly. thats what tells the amp to turn off when the power stops on the hu.
Rep please lol. |
it could also be a stray bit of the wire from the remote touching the power
so one stray wire can cause that!? id better double check.. if pred says it its worth trying lol.
yes mate it means it would be bridging a live to the remote turn on making the amp stay on, its worth a look

yeah thats true mate you did.. so ive just gone out to try it and yes dead right pred and qucifer...now one new problem.. due to my own stupidity/laziness/the fact its dark raining and its warm inside; i connected the power up without disconnecting the earth on the battery. now i was screwing it back up perfectly fine and it made a huge spark.. smoke cam out and now im thinking it probably wont work.. ive taken it apart and it SEEMS ok like the coil isnt melted so what are the chances of it still working?
only one way to find out im afraid.
i do not want to try it just for the fact i will be very very disappointed when it doesnt work.. ill try tomorrow when i can be bothered to take the negative off the battery.. why does it spark though? i mean id reconnected it once then reconnected it again why does it randomly blow?
maybe you touched the negative with the power or touched the power to the amp on accident?
nah definately not all i did was put the wire onto the termnal screwed it down a bit and it sparked massively! seen a couple of gto amps on the bay.. may buy these as i can then use one for the sub and one for comps... thats if my current one dont work which it wont =(
how do you know, go try now, if it works be happy, if not sulk and buy a new one :y:
ill try tomorrow with the negative lead off.. would rep you more but i have to spread the love.
