My 198.4bhp vt'R' yo! *engine works (on predator)*
I had my current road going vtr for about 4.5years now, although
sadly its just sitting spare on the driveway atm since ig to the 172. ![]() ![]() ![]() I had been slowly building a track toy over a few years when an engine came up that was higher spec than the TBd engine I was going to use. Plan was to use this engine in my s1 rallye track toy, however soon the shell came up for sale and thought i couldnt be arsed to do the reshell for the engine, and so the rallye was broken down and is currently in bits on my drive lol!! ![]() ![]() So following on from AlexR's thread about the history of the car heres how it begins for me. Spec of car Spec of the car is engine: TU5J4 1.6 16v Emerald M3D ECU with shed motorsport adapter loom All unused wires in engine bay removed Baffled peugeot sport sump Mocal oil cooler with thermostat Polished and balanced crankshaft New bearings all round Rebore Steel H section conrods ARP rod bolts High compression kit car pistons Enlarged inlet and exhaust valves Head ported to suit bigger valves and match inlet & exhaust systems Solid camshaft followers Double Stronger Valve springs Catcams 803 cams Maxi(S1600) exhaust header 2.5" stainless exhaust system Maxi individual direct to head throttle bodies Long polished trumpets Larger pico injectors Peugeot sport grpN engine mounts Lightened and balanced flywheel VTS fuel system setup ![]() Transmission: Valeo OE VTS clutch, brand new, quivvering with fear S2 Rallye gearbox rebuilt with brand new citroen synchro rings, bearings, with uprated input shaft bearing, new seals etc Quaife ATB differential with new bearings. VTS driveshafts Chassis: 2002 VTR chassis Full 10 point OMP roll cage with door bars Scuttle removed Upper sparco strut brace, painted black Lower OMP strut brace custom spec faulkners, lowering 20-25mm roughly. Peugeot sport grpA front dampers to match Uprated wishbone bushes on new wishbones New droplinks New track rod ends Power steering removed Rear beam refurbished with new double bearings Polyrace solid beam bushes 22mm peugeot sport torsion bars(standard are 19mm) 24mm rear anti roll bar(france are out of 25s at the mo) GrpN Bilstein rear dampers Shed motorsport toe settings Wheels & Brakes: 15" VTS alloys with 195/50 Toyo R888s fitted 15" 205 1.9 GTI wheels with toyo proxies- falkens 306 GTi6 front brake calipers Brembo 283mm front discs Mintex M1155 front pads OE mintex rear discs and pads Goodridge braided hoses all round 406 23.8mm master cylinder DOT 5.1 fluid thoroughly flushed through Brake bias valve tweeked. Bodywork & exterior: Debadged boot, dewipered with wiring stripped out Procomp carbon fibre bonnet with inner frame removed Aerocatches for bonnet Streamline carbon Fibre mirror caps Mk1 rear lights Fog lights removed & meshed Storm single wiper conversion(temp measure) Interior: Stripped of all sound deadening & carpet All unused wiring removed right back to fuse box and beyond. VTS dials fitted with oil temp and coolant temp wired up to them. TIM oil pressure and temp gauges in carbon panel Window switches, fan override switch and hazard switch relocated to above Momo steeringwheel gauges in carbon panel. Glovebox removed heater fan etc removed Carbon composite "rudi" front doorcards S2 106 lower door bins Recaro bucket seats Black LUKE 4 point harnesses The car came with cobra buckets but these i didnt really want in the car and so they were sold to a slaphead from up north who likes the sea. And the seats I replaced them with were my Recaros that were in the s1 ![]() The steering wheel was also changed to a momo one i had for the s1 ![]() As winter is approaching i didnt just want to be on cut slicks all the time, and so invested in a set of 205 rims for what is a short term plan until i get a set of flat faced compomotive mos i have refurbed. ![]() ![]() and how it sits on current track wheels ![]() The oil cap is currently leaking, and so I have a set of JP4 covers as the rubber seals better than instant gasget and so should give me a better seal aswell as stop the oil leak due to better oil cap deisgn. These will be going on hopefully in the next few weeks. ![]() I then ordered a bullet cam kit, consisitng of bullet cam, microphone and solid state recorder. Sadly the recorder hasnt workd and so for track days ive had to bodge a short term camera mount ![]() ![]() I had a track day booked for the 12th of this month and after a slight technical issue on route i made it there and completed the day. The car ran perfectly well all day long until a slight mistake in a corner on what we think was oil ended my day in the gravel. Other than that not alot came past all day long, the usual problems were bigger cars not wanting a saxo to come passed as they were to embarrassed and lots and lots of red flags slowing the day up. ![]() ![]() whoops ![]() gravel gets everywhere. ![]() The car is now standing back at home needing a check over after the day, some future work for the car is to install the av kit once the new solid state recorder arrives, aswell as purchase a carbon or fibreglass boot, polycarb kit, fit my hispec 4 pots with some fruity pads, sort out my comp mos with refurb and some naughty rubber (R888s) and thats about it so far. ![]() ![]() Going to be a long term project hopefully, with lots of track action, and no doubt alot of money spent down the line getting the best out of the car. |

The s1 shell is getting scrapped really, cant be arsed with people fannying about who want a non rolling shell etc... ill just rape it for spares then get it cubed. My old saxo i need to remove the 4 pots from, fit 266brakes i had for the s1 and put my old vtr wheels on it. Then need to fix the lower engine mount as the engines rocking a bit (105k) and the ignition barrel. Then i have a spare car that ill prob just let my sister use for longer trips as im not selling it to see some chav slam it on its arse and fit lexus lights etc.... long term i might need the shell anyway lol... |
have a feeling im gonna be like that with my vtr cant see me ever selling it. soon as it gets an s engine and caged il just get another runabout. Ah well. But yeah got a good collection of cars there ryan.

some proper good projects there.
will be a shame to see the rallye turned into coke cans though. |

thats the main reason the 106 never got finished, it took me months to find someone who was willing to come weld it on my driveway. |
how did it happen?
hired a welder and DIY'd it lol. |

I wasnt practicing welding up an important area when id never welded before. I do need to learn though so i can go for a madder cage in the vtr :P |

I also didnt want to have my track toy as my only car incase anything happened. |

I had this problem, found out that the standard VTS oil cap had a common problem with leeking so Citroen developed a superseeding part! £5 from citroen, mines never leaked since! All youre cars look amazing! :y: |

the JP4 covers are a straight fit as far as im aware (not fitted them myself to comment on personal findings) and should be better long term if i ever removed the cam covers with the J4 metal covers then id need to keep using the instant seal thanks for that, although need to sort a slight leak from around the oil cooler thermostat as theres a bit of shit down there. |
Superseding part number: 0000025849 :y:
Might have a look into thoose covers think they look better :P |
I like the ford ka,
Serious note, I thought you were selling the TB engine.. thats what Yates informed me anyway. |
