Riveted on arches

Has anyone riveted on there arches(standard bodykit)? If so any pictures?

jeffchiz 19th May 2010 21:22

my mate got fed up of his drivers front arch falling off his gti so he got some self tappers and a drill and drilled them on took about 2 min haha looks shit but its a track car so he doesn't care

DanViner 19th May 2010 21:29

you could drill and self tap then on underneath the side indicators and maybe in the wheel arch if they keep coming off

Why not just put rivets through the arch trim & use the standard method of attaching the trim to the wing?

Saaamon 19th May 2010 21:51

I'm after that rough look to complement my fooked exterior, aswell as stopping them falling off.

oz_ 19th May 2010 23:15

It looks shit. Instead of looking like a hard ass rally car it looks like some knob thought a rivet would look good there.

Get some M6 allen headed bolts.

If done poorly on a poor spec car agreed.

lol. Mine were done on my VTS before I bought the car. They don't work on the VT* arches because of the shape of them. It just pulls the arch in where the rivet is. I've now removed them all and replaced them with bolts - much easier if I clip the arch something on track/while racing.

jeffchiz 20th May 2010 02:18

nah sorry no pics, i dont see him that much and when i do hes on his bike lol

off topic but are you the guy that bought my house mates comp2's?

Bound 20th May 2010 02:26

Tigerseal/silicon the fuck out of it on, won't come off. + use the original clips. Won't look shit... probably won't ever come of unless you break it, (or scrape the tiger seal of - scratching the paintwork underneath.. but who cares, the VT kit hides it).

LSOfreak 20th May 2010 12:55

can look really good sometimes. think its more of an oldskool thing to pull it off though

You mean like this? or am i completely mis-reading the topic.

oz_ 20th May 2010 17:36

^^^ This is what I mean with the bolts. Rivets don't work because of the way they pull it all in

jeffchiz 23rd May 2010 03:58

blackie_2k5 23rd May 2010 04:22

used to counter sink xr2 kits and rivet them onto 1.0 fiestas and fill it over, was spot on, no one knew the diference..... till you tried to race it lol

3cott 23rd May 2010 08:28
