HOW TO remove black immobiliser box(non keypad models only)

a breif guide on how to remove the black immobiliser box on non keypad models so if you dont have the keypad this IS for you

ENGINE MUST BE RUNNING WHILST REMOVING BLACK BOX!!!!!!!!!!
IF THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING IT WILL LOCK YOUR ECU!!

1.locate the black box but dont remove it yet which is located in the passenger footwell behind the fuse box it will look like this:

2.start engine and leave to tick over
3.with the engine running remove the black box there is a plastic clip which i just prised it off with a small flat head screw driver and let engine carry on running for 5 mins
4.switch off engine then switch back on and job done

engine doesnt need to be running. ignition just needs to be on.

What if ecu already locked??? And u cannot start car would this unlock ecu???

saxojimmy 9th July 2012 00:08

my immobiliser light was flashing and car would not start and i ran a ignition feed to the feul pump from the stereing collum and it started then i took off my immobiliser and job done

BaSSLjnE 9th July 2012 09:33

What are the benefits of doing this?

Jay_T87 10th July 2012 03:40

So doing this removes the immobiliser completely? I.E. no need for little plastic fob key?

sam_16v 10th July 2012 08:20

It just de activates the imobilizer so you can use another ecu. the fob only unlocks the doors so will still need it

ryanmt 10th July 2012 11:06

Worth noting that you leave the box disconnected forever and if you are removing the engine to put in a donor car make sure the black box / keypad is removed BEFORE connecting the engine up.

This method works fine but soon as you connect up a transponder box or keypad it reverts back to its locked state!

I didn't mean the central looking fob, I meant the Immobiliser fob that fits the little plug under the steering wheel

The plug on that little black box, the wires coming from it are two of them grey or only one?

chris1987 9th November 2012 18:14

ignition feed

If I remove the immobilizer box as above, I guess I can cut all the associated wiring out of the loom too?

welshpug 9th November 2012 22:22

yup if you really wanted to.

I really want to :)

scottie_436 11th November 2012 09:14

Same principle for keypad cars... Only you unplug the keypad with the engine running :)

welshpug 11th November 2012 09:46

no need to have it running, just ignition on.
