Bushes/antiroll bar links

Got full set of powerflex bushes etc that are going to go on the car when the VTS rear beam goes on.

Is it worth upgrading the front antiroll bar to one from a VTS and would it just bolt on to a 1.1?

also, is there anything else I need to consider in order to improve handling.

thanks scott

Well bought up Scott :) Was about to ask for details on this too :)

SNewham 19th February 2007 22:18

hmm :P well lol is there a massive improvement to upgrading front and rear to powerflex bushes or is it just not worth it.

Since I nearly put the car sideways into a curb the other week :)

willsy 19th February 2007 22:33

Ive been told constantly over the last week or so that i must get some of these bushes and they are well worth every penny.

SNewham 19th February 2007 22:49

argh I suppose another £100 isn't going to hurt that much in relation to everything else.

Josh_Phipps 19th February 2007 23:00

I will be interested to know if they make any diff m8 as i might invest in some aswell :P how much they set you back?

SNewham 19th February 2007 23:10

get them for around £40 for just the 4 rear beam mounting bushes. off ebay.

willsy 19th February 2007 23:22

For the full set it looks to be about £100 give or take a little depending on where you look.

SNewham 19th February 2007 23:24

I can't wait to get the car back on the road. Decent brakes, decent handling :P decent ride.... I hope

Just replaced them for standard brand new ones. But apprently my brakes had been running at 40% of their capability and were about to fail.. lol and that's 1.1 brakes. So it should be a small improvement :y:

I was on holiday and my parentys decided to go for the standards.... I would of gone for some GTI-6 if I knew they had to be replaced but there we go.

You'll nitice a huge difference when you get it lowered fully Scott. Should make a world of difference with the bushes and a top and bottom brace if you havnt already got them

bottom brace will be going on at the same time :P been sitting in the garage for 2 months as well. The car has finally forced me to get it sorted. It's punished me with the brakes and the driveshafts.

Taking it back to where the driveshafts were replaced 4 months ago to see if I can get them done for free under warranty...

willsy 19th February 2007 23:44

You should be able to, im sure most parts are covered for a years Warrenty or for at least a certain milage :) Good Luck

AlexR 20th February 2007 00:37

depends what front anti roll bar your car has currently, i have seen some late 106 base models with droplink anti roll bars in which case straight swap.

if you have wishbone mounted one then you need VT* wishbones, VT* anti roll bar, VT* struts(correct driveshaft type) all the clamps and bolts as well as droplinks

woodsy 20th February 2007 01:42

what size is are the bolts what go through them on a mk1 vts ... M10 or M12

found a full rear set for £41

Yates 20th February 2007 08:25

bushes are worth it, i had them done at same time as my suspension very happy with my car and the way it goes

stil need to do them bloody rear bushes tho

willsy 20th February 2007 17:42

My rear bushes arrived today :)

Alex i hope fitting a Front ARB isnt going to be as much of an arse as you made it sound :(
