as above, i wos fiddling under my bonnet yesterday and i hadnt realised quite how heavy they are...

so if the stock 1 wos scrapped for sumthing like carbon fibre which is super lightweight yet strong, how much faster would u go??

considerable change of power to weight ratio me thinks = go faster :y:

Just take the bonnet off! Ultimate weight loss and ultimate air flow over the engine and intake!:D

Then it rains...

bad aerodynamics could hamper the speed also airflow should ideally be ducted in and ducted out.

You could just cut out all the internal bracing to save weight

Ye thats an idea No point getting a gel coat or cf one then and will look so good.............................................. .................................................. .................not

i ment replace the bonnet wiv a lightweight version rather than leaving it off all together lol

would allow gd intake tho as already mentioned

Take all the doors and boot off too, make cardboard cutouts to make it aerodynamic, beat an F430 easy, only to 120 though...

cloud (james) has a carbon fibre bonnet. on the video of the nurbugring trip, it said something about him not being able to do more than 80mph because of it ???

I think its best if you pin lightweight bonnets- they get a bit flexy at speed. I certainly wouldn't like it coming off will doing any decent speed!

Mine moves about at 100mph, it is a bit sketchy!! Especially if going quciker aswell...

Mike was ermm taking the piss there lol,

I could go as fast the car would go but it would flap around like a hookers fanny flap. Hardlly ideal for long trips..

on the sudject of weight saving how much do the rear seats weigh? i always take the spare wheel out on cars, saves weight, and just carry a can of that tyre weld stuff.

get the bonnet, the doors, the roof and the tailgate skinned and you will lose alot of weight but its not as sturdy tho

fibreglass/carbon ftw!

go on ssc and check out bill vts
think a lad on here owns it now but dunno his name
he saved loooooooooads of weight
iirc 750kg with a cage and a tank of fuel?
