im on my second week of owning it,ive just been to fill it up and pulling out of the garage it started running like crap revs up and down all over the place, loss of power then it would return but strangest of all it tried like fighting me to cut out so id blip the throttle it kept running, sort of but sounded like it was pushing air through the air filter any one please have any ideas, advise it hasnt done it once untill tonight.a few mornings its started but then run on 3 cylinders and engine light would come on id turn it off turn it on again and then it would be fine.

when you say try them both is there any way to test them or is it just a case of relace them?

Yeah, get a diagnostic test done.

it seems a bit better today its just juddering a lot below 2000 rpm above that it seems ok it just doesnt like going along slowly say 20/30mph it feels like its constantly running out of petrol, above that as i say it seems fine.but blip the throttle at a stand still it boggs down and then idles all over the place.

Yeh as said do a Diagnostics test.

Or if you have a friend with the same car, ask to try theirs and see if it's any better :)

Also, change the fuel filter, it's cheap and worth changing anyway... :)

ICV/Coilpack/Lambda/sparkplugs

or just damp

had similar problems which was down to knackered plugs and a buggered coil pack. runs like a dream now

might be just the fuel you put in my boyfriends old 106 didnt like shell fuel, as it ran shit on it always juddering and not getting power like you said. put some redx fuel am sure it will sort its self out as that what 106 did.

mine used to randomnly run onto 3 cylinders or start on 3 cylinders but then you turn it off and back on and it would run fine i think i had a faulty injector so could be that?

Clean the throttle cable, and the place it sits,

could just be a coilpack mate, if the engine management light cam on and its bouncing the revs up and down then its probs running on 3 cylinders tbh. like peeps have already said get a diagnostics check. i would still say it was a coilpack though mate

if you know someone who has an eobd fault code reader plug that into your car, or alternatively take it to a garage to get a diagnostic test done on it, if the engine management light came on then there will definately be a fault code in the system which will tell you whats wrong. its cheaper than trying to guess whats up and replacing loads of parts unnecessarily. if it was after you filled up maybe you filled up with dodgy fuel and that blocked an injector, fuel line, or fuel filter

got mac tools hand held code reader in my glove box, (a must for alfa owners)
but i'm a bit far away from you i think,
when it's running rough, carefully remove each ht lead one at a time at the coil pack end and see there is any noticable difference,
you should see a spark between the lead and the coil pack contact (if you hold it close), just be sure not to touch the end of the lead your hand/body with the engine running or you'll get a nasty belt.....
