I have just managed to replace a leaking core plug in situe & then the water feed pipe that the hose connects to underneath the manifold snapped off. Manifold for sure has to come off now but I am wondering what to do with it. Maybe it can be repaired? The piece than came off may just be long enough to press back in. Would it have originally been a push fit? I will have to clean out the hole first. Any other ideas or experience or is replacement of the whole manifold the only way forward. The car belongs to my daughter. A student learning to drive with not much money. Any advice much appreciated.

Do you have any pictures of it? Sounds like it would be easier to replace the manifold, shouldn't cost too much for a second hand one

No pics yet. The steel tube that came off is very thin & likely to go again due to corrosion. Any idea where I can get a good one?

Try eBay, piston heads, Gumtree etc also local breakers

Manifold came off ok. Remove throttle body & air cleaner. Undo electrical plugs but leave hoses attached.
Met a retired engineer who can screw in a new pipe & I will probably replace the other core plug then virtually reconditioned.

Is that a type of thread? Long time since I did my city & guilds eng. This guy is real old school & does jobs for the musium. I'll post how I get on. That plastic vac pipe to rocker cover dosn't seem to come off so had to put it all in a big box. Took loads of pics just in case it gets lost. Will try & post some later.

Ordered a replacement for the steel pipe that broke off for a few quid from Citroen. New manifold available for mega bucks. May still have to have the new pipe fitted by an engineer. Will decide when I see it. Will replace the other core plug while manifold is off.

Replacement manifold fitting (pipe) is stepped & pushes straight in to the broken bit. Glad I didn't try to drill it out. Replaced the other core plug. Make sure vac pipe runs around the front of the throttle body or you will have to take it off again like I did. Well done to local Citroen dealer for supplying the parts.

Had same problem with my 106 with inlet manifold part number 9620543380. The water cooling inlet pipe at the bottom underside of the manifold snapped off due to corrosion. I was surprised to find my local Citroen garage stocked the fitting part number 0345 82. See pics.

Plan is to cleanup the hole as the remains of the corroded fitting still remain and then to hammer in the new fitting which is an interference fit.

from my experience if you are having corrosion problems of this magnitude ,then the engine has been run with no antifreeze for a long time and i would be very suprised if this is the last problem you have with it -. expect liner seal problems +head problems
you might want to consider replacing the whole unit next time it gives problems
