wooooo... I have my tb's!!!!.... just picked them up from a mate in Wrexham. £250 got this little lot:
-CBR 600 tb's
-Custom inlet (8 valve tu)
-Angled ram pipes
-Custom throttle linkage
-Special gasket thing (can't think of the name but they reduce heat)
-4 x K+N bike filters
-Megasquirt base map to suit 1.6 TU engine (will be re-mapped once up and running)

Now some pictures:

nice one .. the hardest bit is getting them working correctly when on the car. Thats the point many stumble

lol... I am a model of self control!... I would fit them right now! but I can't as I need the megasquirt first so I'll have to wait til after christmas when I've overhauled the engine and fitted the 1.6 bottom end

That look s like a little bargain there but is it not going to be a tight squeeze with the k+n's?

You boxing them or venting the bonnet?

So many questions cant wait to see them running, buy a megasquirt now....I'll give you 10% of the cost as an Xmas present.

lol... I still don't know if I'm doing a custom airbox or if I'm going to get a bar filter... or I can cut the bulk head and have the filters sitting behind the slam panel

beefy - are you building MS yourself? i have been on the MS forum for a while now and have been looking into it, i think i will be getting it to build myself though, £100 cheaper. anychance you could email me that base map? :P

I don't know yet... I don't see why not at the mo... I may have to do some wizardry with the setup yet to get the things to fit without butchering the bulk head but I'm very resourceful lol

Stunning! I am so jealous, nice deal at £250!

How much power do you expect?

Ax_beefy
27th November 2006, 19:01
I expect around 25-30 from the rebuild and tb setup... but that will increase with the relevant headwork and cam later on next year... I'm aiming for about 150atf so reasonable I think.... I could VTS the thing and be done but I'm a gluton for punishment and fucking about lol....

I dont know where it was done mate.... I bought them off my mate who got them from Matey off PGAC I think.... other than that the history is unknown....

Right I think I'm going to try and create something similar to this:
http://www.blue106.de/drossel1.jpg

http://www.blue106.de/drossel2.jpg

There is no way the mini filters are going under my bulkehead without cutting it and repostioning the brake bar..... plus I figure that if I can get something similar to that then I can connect to to my ram filter so its pulling cold air from the front of the car....

you won,t get + 20 by fitting t/bodies ,with right cam and good cold air supply you will, but to get 150 from an 8v you are getting very close to where it won,t pass an mot due to cam you would have to fit , sorry ,you are asking to get a 60% increase in power at that ,which is not easy and have it road friendly

I did say 25-30 inc my engine rebuild... which includes a 1.6 bottom end and the fact my car is already down by 12bhp on standard power.... so in reality it adds upto about 10bhp ish... but RR figures are always very "up in the air" if you know what I mean.... highest n/a 8v tu I have heard of is a rallye running bike bodies (137bhp atw / 168atf iirc)

ax is very restictive in space behind the head ,thats why we made all our twin carb/tbody manifolds downdraft ,only way to get length without major surgeory to bulk-head ,adn thats only poss on a lhd ,due to brake cross shaft on rhd.
I have been there and done everything possible to ax,s long time ago ,our race car .a real lhd sport 1294cc was giving a real128@wjheels @ 8100,tested on engine dyno at 157@8100 ,but power didn,t start dropping a lot till it was over 9k.
I hasten to add that nothing on the engine was remotly std ,but no way would it pass any sort of mot

And I don't doubt your experience mate.... I realy don't I have recommended your company to countless people when looking for various bits and pieces of work, I had considered the down draft route and am painfully aware of the space behind the head, but that said this set of TB's was fitted to a VTR engine in my mates AX for a few weeks before the bg end bearings went lol so I know they fit... (they were on without filters though.... probably why the engine failed!) but we measured it and found that if I cut the ram pipes dwn a tad you can easily get a bar filter in, the airbox idea is a more performance orientated vision that I will look into if it is at all possible.
