Default Standard fit cd player problem

Hi can anyone help me please. I have 1 2001 1.5d desire, it has a factory fitted stereo/cd player which has a strange fault, If i switch on the ignition(but don't start it) cd's will play with no problem. However, if I start the car, then it will not play any cd's at all, it justs ejects them. This is driving me nuts. I know the cheapest option is to buy a replacement stereo, but i am curious as to what could be wrong with this one first. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. There is no name on the front of the stereo, it is just a plain black one.

many thanks in advance

I asked a similar question as mine won't start playing a cd while moving, only when I've stopped the car. Suggestions were: use one of those disks which clean the laser I think, take it to an audio shop to be refurbed or it could be the shock absorber on the back of the head unit which are bad for breaking. I'd just buy a new one, if you don't want to sped a lot you could just buy another standard head unit second hand, can pick them up cheap.

I'm having the same problem too

I don't mind replacing the stereo if that'll fix the problem, but I just worry that if something to do with wiring/shock absorbers then it'll just happen again, or something bigger or worse is wrong?

Also don't feel keen on taking it to an audio place as it'll probably be more hassle and expensive than a new stereo.
