03 Black VTR
So then, I had an Icelandic grey VTR as my first car, loved it too bits, but it failed the mot on the axle, which I had already replaced, rust which I had already had done, it had cracked strut tops, and a load of other things, so I decided to save for a 106 gti/saxo vts, but then I was laid off.
So I found this 03 VTR on eBay, but has an overheating problem and idle problem, phoned the guy arranged a very decent price and went to collect it, 300 mile round trip.
Got there, few small problems, scratched bootlid/rear bumper and a dent on the rear arch, couple of other small bits but nothing much to sort.
Drove the car 2 miles down road it overheated, let it cool down, went to get it on motorway where we thought that would've kept it cool, kept steady but no it overheated within 500 yards, phoned AA didn't give symptoms of headgasket, but ended up on the back of an AA van and it got towed home.
Changed thermostat, checked radiator bled system all was good, drove fine, still idled at 2500rpm, drove it up and down the street a few times, let it run for an hour, turned it off, no overheating checked oil cap and mayo everywhere... Headgasket had gone, no surprise.
So fixed it, swapped some bits over from my old car like inlet manifold and a few sensors, got head skimmed and new gasket set and it started first turn no problems at all.
Just got to tax it now as that run out when it was off road, here's a few pics.
This is when I got it home, needing a clean.
Dent on back arch
So then my plans are:-
Fit supersprint 4-2-1 manifold
Fit custom manifold back
Fit 50mm springs
Fit upper and lower omp strut braces
Respray and fresh tyres on my vts alloys
Get the dent sorted
New bootlid
New rear bumper
New drivers door and maybe passenger
Refit the VT kit as some clips broke
Might swap to a standard colour coded front grill
Redo smoked headlights
Fit omp Corsica steering wheel
Fit omen rev limiter and launch control
Then once over sorted a job I plan on getting a pair of omp bucket seats, and harnesses, bilstein b8s front and rear.
Then that's it I think, might 16v it but shall see how it goes.
Cheers for looking!

So then, got the car taxed last Monday, everything was fine, drives well, no problems except the shit exhaust that is on it and doesn't fit properly catches everything and blows badly.
But on Thursday I had to go to where I'll be starting work tomorrow, to fill in forms, got the end of the road of where I was going and could smell a really strong petroly smell, about 200 yards away from where I needed to go I carried on, then it started misfiring bad, pulled up and it stalled, luckily where I had to park, anyway ran inside because I didn't want to be late and there was petrol everywhere, got back to car phoned AA, got towed home, and one of my injectors hadn't been fitted properly by my dad when we put car back together and had popped out, so a new seal, popped it back in and it was fine.
Anyways next weekend, it'll be coming off the road for 3-4 weeks as I don't get paid until end of month and due to being out of work I can't renew my insurance... So I'll be putting my 50mm springs on, manifold and exhaust and my omex rev limiter.
Will also be respraying and getting new tyres for my vts alloys when funds allow, any ideas on colour?

Good to see my old car still going. thought it was going to end up as scrap Really miss it to be honest!
I'm sure its much better in the hands of someone who really knows what they are doing, i'm looking forward to see what sort of things you have in store for it mate

Was gonna try and contact you mate, tbh I'm assuming you, but one of the previous owners spent a fair bit in keeping it in good nick, with regular services etc, bodywork is something that's annoying me ATM, but I plan on sorting that, making it faster and handle better .
It will be getting looked after, it's coming off the road today for a month, due to just starting a new job and having to wait for my pay before I renew the insurance, but it's gonna have a bit spent on it next year.

Headlights are smoked, but I have been thinking of fly eye tinting them... Rear lights will stay standard, got a few plans for this all going well.

Managed to get my old stainless steel custom catback on today along with my supersprint 4-2-1 manifold, seems to drive a lot smoother and feels a lot better to drive, the other exhaust was blowing at every join, didn't realise how much difference this made.
Next weekend I shall be swapping front springs and wiring in the omex rev limiter and launch control. After that will be quiet for a while, will hopefully be going 16v in the new year, along with some nice cams.
