it was connected to the original air filter thing before. i was wondrering whether it matters that its uncovered. i have drove it now and it seems to go fine and sounds good too. but there is still that cable which is not connected to anything i have a better picture below:

Isn't that the oil breather pipe. It doesent realy need a filter but you can get cheap little filters to go on it. I wouldnt pay a lot as you can sometimes get little drops of oil coming out of it whitch would make a mess of a filter

The thing on the exhaust manifold heat shield is where the filter used to draw hot air from.
This helps the engine to run better when cold.
Sometimes not having this can cause idle problems especialy on cold mornings. Dont wory about it its not usualy that mutch of a problem

you should have got a small plug with the kit which just fits over the hole. from looking at ur pic i think u just remove the loose cable and fill it with the plug provided.

yeah it would have 2 be closed off for sure, you get two plugs with the kit, one is really tiny, the other quite big with a silver top. Its the silver one u want here but i suppose it could be filled with anything that will hold
